Citizen and permanent resident in Australia. 6 month temp job in UK. Also a EU citizen (not UK). Can i claim back all the VAT i pay during my stay? I have a flight booked back to Oz in 2008.

You can only claim back the VAT on any unused goods you are taking out of the country. You will need to have got a VAT Refund Form when you purchased the items from any shop operating the VAT Retail Export Scheme. You must take them out of the country by the last day of the third month following that in which the goods were purchased. You must produce them (unopened in the original packing), their receipts and the VAT refund document to Customs at the point of departure from the EC.
