Kidney stones are a build up of calcium in the kidneys and as you described can be extremely painful. Sometimes they can pass on their own when you go to the toilet, however sometimes they grow too large and cause blockages and other complications. People that get kidney stones usually have them re-occur, so you may have passed the original one but have a new one developing.

When you have kidney stones, you need to find out what kind they are. If they are mostly uric acid type, then you can form them literally in hours.
Pain in the back is an indicator as is frequent urges to go to the bathroom...especially when there is little or nothing that happens when you do.
It can take some time, but I am surprised that they just let you go without any follow up with a urologist or something. I've had kidney stones the size of a cashew, and believe me, they aren't going anywhere...they hurt like crazy, though. You should see a urologist, and probably get another CT...see if they are on the move. If so, you may be passing them. In all likelihood, though, you may have already passed those from July, and perhaps have formed new ones. You don't always see them easily when they pass, and you don't, amazingly enough, always feel them.
Good luck. Go to the doc, ok?

If they told you they are small enough to pass, then you just have to wait it out. Four months seems like a long time. I've had kidney stones several times, but its been a few years. I do remember when I was getting a lot of them that the pain would go away for a while then come back, I don't know if they were still in there or if I passed one and then wasn't in pain until another one was bothering me.
Part of it depends on whether you're a guy or girl. For guys it hurts the most right as it comes out (going through the penis), but for girls it hurts most going from the kidney to the bladder.
I know I had at least one that hurt for weeks the way you are describing, it drove me nuts. Add a little lemon to your water, I've heard that helps. I also heard parsely helps, but I never tried it.

You will know when you pass them. It is very painful and if they are large enough, you will hear them tink on the toilet. My dad has had several. The past couple of times, his never passed, they did another MRI and found they were too large. He had the laser surgery to break them up. You should let your doc know that they haven't passed and the pain is getting worse. If they have set up an infection in your kidneys, it is serious.

You would know if you passed a kidney stone unless it was fragments of a stone. I would suggest going back to your doctor to look at different options. Have you ever heard of using an ultrasound treatment on the kidney stones to break them up smaller so they are easier to pass? I would talk to your doctor about it or check it out!

Have they confirmed what sort of kidney stones you have. My son had his first stones at age 12. We found he had a disease called HypoCalciUrea which is actually an imbalance of Oxalic acid and Citric Acid in his body. He cannot eat foods high in Oxalic Acid (Spinach, beetroot and nuts) and must have a couple of litres of Orange or Lemon Juice a day. It is now controlled and he hasn't had a stone in about 5 years.

My husband had a stone for 14 months, he would have flare up of pain as it would move. He finally passed it, it was the size and shape of a grapefruit pit! Get medical help for fever, severe pain or inability to urinate.

It sounds like you still might have them around, but on a lesser magnitude or they very well could be from the previous stones. You might want to double check on that again because you just never know, perhaps they may be able to use ultrasound waves and break them up that way, the wonders of medical science!

I couldn't just sit around and do nothing like my doctors suggested.
They didn't want me to do anything or to take herbs or herbal remedies, but I had to try something - they just wanted me to do dialysis!
This program allowed me to take control of my health. I went from Stage 4 to Stage 3 kidney disease.
It was easy to do and my BUN, creatinine and anemia are all in better ranges.
