My mom hates my brother's girlfriend because her auntie is my dad's ex-wife.

She calls her ugly, rude and disrespectful names and I feel really bad. I mentioned it to her that regardless of how she feels him dating this girl, it isn't fair for her to call her names. And that in fact if she talks bad about his gf he will see the mom as a bad guy really. My mom got really defensive when i said that and could've got even a little upset with me.

What do I do? I don't want my mom to stress about it and create problems with my brother but I also want my brother to date whom ever makes him happy. Past is the past.

What do I do to help both sides?

like u said, the past is the past. your mom is being unfair to your brother and very rude to his girlfriend for something she had nothing to do with. Your mom needs to stop that because it can cause a strain on her relationship with her and your brother and even with you too. She needs to be an adult and stop acting the way she is.

Nothing, keep your nose out of it. Your mom needs to grow up and if alienating her son is the consequence of her immature and hateful behavior then so be it.

well, there isnt really anything you can do, until your mom stops acting so immature.
