So I worked this year, part time for a few months, and made about $3000 to $4000, like somewhere in the middle, and that’s working part-time, while going to school full time. I was wondering, how much I would expect to pay for taxes. Because I don’t know what the percentage is… can anyone give me a rough estimate. [By the way, I live in California, as a permanent resident, for now]

If your parents claim you, you get $600 off the amount you paid in taxes. The bigger worry should be how it impacts your financial aid package for the next school year since your income and savings count at a higher rate than your parents' income and savings. I have included below IRS' page for individual taxpayers.

I’m not tax savvy but I do believe that students get a discount. Also depending on your status you may be able to qualify for Head of Household. Since you didn’t make much I suggest going to your local IRS department when you file your taxes. They will do it for free for people who are income qualified.
