I'm a girl and I'm getting a tattoo this Saturday and it's going to be stars swirling up my back all the way to my neck. What do I wear to my session?

i have had my whole back tattooed and i wear some jeans that are comfortable to sit in (nothing too tight) and a long sleeved t-shirt that has a boat neck hole in it (it is oblong)
this may sound complicated but i'll try to find a picture to show you.
you put the shirt on, then pull the back of the shirt back over your head, arms still in the holes so your whole back is exposed but the front of your body is covered.
(not the greatest picture, but you can kindof get the idea)

Just to put this out there, you CAN get an epidural when you have a tattoo on your lower back. The only exception is if it is a new tattoo that is still healing (and you shouldn't be getting tattooed while you are pregnant any way, so you probably wouldn't have fresh tattoos). Anesthesiologists will try to pick un-tattooed skin over tattooed skin just because of the simple fact that the needle may leave a scar and disfigure the tattoo a bit. Just them trying to be nice and make sure the mother's tattoo doesn't get ruined. There really isn't a medical reason to not get an epidural because of a tattoo.

Bring something light and loose-fitting - you'll want to avoid anything that might irritate your fresh new tattoos. Depending on how complicated the design is, you might need multiple sessions. If you can find an outfit that leaves your whole back exposed but covers your front, go for it; if not, bring a towel or something similar to cover your front with. Or sit there with your hooties hanging out if you're not shy; the artist will be behind you most of the time.

Best advise...Where something loose and if possible find a shirt that has only small strings along the back and a full front it might be hard but a 99% chance no matter what you wear you will have to shed clothing that touches the area the they are working on so they can work smoothly...ps if this is the first good luck and dont pass out!!!

anything thats loose that wont irritate your new tattoo...during the process you will have to remove anything that will be in the way.....and the thing the girl said about the epidural is true they will not give you one through a tattoo, but if your whole lower back isnt covered (which it doesnt sound like it will be by your description) you can still have one...if you plan on children

Wear a bikini top, one with the strings that tie behind your back, under a loose fitting shirt that you don't like (in the event some ink gets on it)

If it is going to take up your entire back you may just want to wear a t-shirt and bra. Odds are you are going to have to take your shirt off anyway. Take a towel or something to keep your front covered while you are being worked on.

A halterneck would be good, or something open-backed and low cut.

Sounds nice, but be aware that you probably wont want all that on there when your grandchildren are rubbing sun lotion on your back in 40 years time. So make it nice =]

I hope you don't plan on getting pregenant- because if you get a tattoo on your back- then you can't get a epidural!
Oh and wear a tubetop or a tanktop- either way your going to have to take it off so it won't be in the way.

I wore my string bikini top and I had a zip up jacket that I also turned backward.
