Anything is possible and fear makes people believe in omens and evil doings, one day with any luck knowledge and common sense will take over the minds of mankind.

YES...
Astrologers read the stars.. they knew of the prophesy connected with Jesus' star.
...so, they followed the star to where the baby Jesus was.
Astrology isn't evil if you do not put that before God. If a person tries to see, or conjure a sign (of the future) on their own... that can be evil, but if God initiates by telling a person to look for a cirtain sign (given by stars or in whatever way God desires) or shows them a sign from heaven, without a person trying to see a sign there, then that is not evil.

Yes, they were astrologers. In fact, it was a star they were following.
How's this for a "Christmas" story:
-Nowhere does it say there were 3 men. There were three types of gifts, but even that is not inclusive to the number of men who gave them. It is unlikely that men who travel such a far distance, "from eastern-parts" (likely Media) who do so in just a pack of three.
-The star did NOT lead these men directly to Jesus, that is, not at first. According to Matthew 2:1, 2 the star led them first to Herod, who wanted to kill Jesus. Matthew 2:7-9 shows that Herod sent the men to find Jesus in Bethlehem (the star led them there also). Matthew 2:8 shows that Herod wanted the astrologers to report back to him when they found the child so that he could pay respects to it. However, Matthew 2:13 shows the real reason Herod wanted to find Jesus. He wanted to kill him. So who do you think was using the star? Was it God, who forbids astrology? Or was it Satan who wanted to kill Jesus from the get-go? You decide.
-Jesus was not an infant when he recieved the gifts. Actually, he was about 2 years old according to Matthew 2:16. Furthermore, the astrologers did not find Jesus in a manger, but rather according to Matthew 2:11, they found him in a house. True, Jesus was born in a manger where he was visited by nearby shepherds who were lead there by an angel of God. (Luke 2:8, 12, 16) But by the time the astrologers had made it to Bethlehem from their long journey from the east, Jesus was about 2 years of age.
For the story of Jesus' birth, see Matthew 1:18-2:23; Luke 2:1-21
True Christians do not celebrate Christmas. It is a celebration that originated in pagan Rome and was later incorporated into "Christianity". Christmas is a lie.

Yes, they were astrologers. Makes one wonder just who put that star up there for them to follow, doesn't it? Remember that those wise men first followed the star to Herod. Herod wanted them to return to him after they found the child, but the wise men didn't do that. Then followed Jesus' family running away to Egypt because Herod ordered all baby boys under a certain age be put to death. The shepherds who found Jesus were led by an angel - not a star. The star sounds like the work of Satan to me.

It was considered wise to look to the stars for understanding and direction. after all the Word of God says, that the Heavens (constellations) tell of the Glory of God! He made them and hung them in the sky. Astronomy which is the true study of the stars for the sake of understanding the revelation of God Himself, is acceptable, yet the study of the stars for the sake of discovering one's own future=astrology is not of God. The three wise men were led not only by the star but by the Wisdom of God from within. Astrologers use 'familiar spirits' to guide them with knowledge about people. Sometimes those familiar spirits attach themselves to the person requesting the 'insightful info'. No thank you!

The three wise men were not astrologers. In the Bible, angels are often linked to the appearance of stars, especially in Revelation. The "star" that the wise men saw was not literally a ball of burning gas, but was an angel that led them to the Lord.

astrology and astronomy did not become separate disciplines until some time after the fourteenth century. (chaucer's 'treatise of the astrolabe' mixes both indiscriminately).
even being able to navigate by the stars (and there are no compasses until the middle ages) would have come under astrology that early - so there is no 'if' about it. if the three magi had not been astrologers they could never have found bethlehem in the first place.
i notice that the usual ignoramuses have already posted their nonsense here.

No, the three wise men "Is Astrology!" It`s the three stars in the eastern seaboard or something like that. The whole christian fable is ancient astrology. The Son of God is the Sun God. December 25 is the day the sun is in a specific astrological position for three days before it rises again, hence Jesus being dead for three days before his Resurrection. Take a look at ancient Egyptian mythology the whole christian fable is in there.
Edit: I forgot to add that before the sun descends to a certain astrological position on Dec 25 for three days it`s in alignment with the three stars, Hence the coming of the Sun God or as Christians put it God son is foretold by the three wise men (three stars).

Yes they were. Most Christians do not understand the Bible.
It is not a sin to read the starts, only to worship them. The Lord's Creation is magnificent and full of wonder. He speaks to us in many ways, why not through the stars?

actually---the wise men---nowhere does it state 3 wisemen in the scriptures---were men of astronomy. They studied the stars----and there was a great big star ----- they followed it and found the baby. They weren't doing the Jean Dixon thing. They were searching the stars for the heralded event that was foretold. :-) Talk about smart fellas. :-)
