I was just wondering whether anyone thinks whatever progress we've made in Iraq is worth the number of American Soldiers who have been killed or injured.

Also, if we end up "winning" the war*, is the victory worth the price paid?

*whatever winning might mean

I don't think our military is doing a bad job. I think they're doing everything they're ordered to do. I think they're brave and that they love America. I appreciate the fact that they are willing to fight for their country and for our well-being.

But that doesn't mean that the leadership exhibited by their commander and chief is good leadership.

Also... shouldn't we leave, simply based on the fact that over 70% of iraqis WANT us to leave?

Angels. I support our troops. I fear for them. i love them. i feel pity for them. I hope they will come home very soon. I hope that someone soon will rescue them from the prison of their chain of command.

You're right. We should leave. Iraq is not worth my husband's or any other soldiers life. I hate that I have to share my husband with a bunch of a**holes who don't appreciate him like I do. I hate that I'm having our first baby WITHOUT him. BUT it's too late now. We can't just leave. There is a mess to be picked up whether Iraq wants us to or not. This is like Dessert Storm and Dessert Shield all over agian. I don't like this war, I don't support this war. BUT I support our soldiers and whether I agree with whats going on or not I still have to stay supportive so my husband and the rest of my family can come home. Iraq will never be a better place, because they will never truly understand what our country went through. They will never appreciate our soldiers like we do.

Iraq is not a better place at the moment but it won't always be this unstable so in the long term it might become a better place than it was under Saddam. People will have some freedoms they never had before and also some hardships that they never had before.

It will be for future historians to really judge whether the invasion was worthy or foolhardy.

For no reason?

Congress stated 23 reasons in the Authorization for the Use of Force they passed in 2002.

So ignoring that bit of "have you stopped beating your wife yet" nonsense, Iraq is on track to be a far better place than it was under the repressive and brutal Hussein regieme.

The only way to lose the war is to quit. Yes, it's worth the price. Brutal dictator, gone. The nearly assured continuation of repression under Hussein's sons, gone. Lives for fear and no self-determination, gone. The opportunity to persue their own destiny as a nation, all but assured. How can that not be worth it?

UPDATE: Your poll is over a year old and a LOT has changed.

Well Troll, seems like better qualified people than you thought there was a very good reason for military intervention in Iraq.

Go ask the Swamp Kurds in the South and the Kurds in Northern Iraq.

And soldiers from more than the U.S.A. have given their lives in this campaign.

If you were an Iraqi you no longer have to worry about being thrown into a rock crusher because you expressed yourself. Iraqi women and girls can go to school to be educated as the equal of any Iraqi males. Of course, you wouldn't understand any of that because your freedoms were handed to you. Just remember that some young American airman, marine, sailor or soldier died so you can say something stupid in public.

Happy Veterans Day!!!

He became examining to toddlers in a Florida college. He became interrupted and recommended with regard to the 1st aircraft hitting the tower. He became not particular a thank you to react (merely as no person became, by means of fact maximum theory it became a freak accident) yet did not quit or alarm the youngsters. while the 2d aircraft hit and the FAA alerted the White living house that many planes have been astray and not responding to radio instructions, he stopped and Air rigidity One left Florida to bypass to Louisiana. It became part of a contingency plan for protecting the government in case of attack.

Better in some respects
But not nearly as good as it can be. I pray that given time and good leadership (not us) they will have a more cohesive government. I don't ever think that a life given for my freedom is ever wasted. No matter what I think about the war. There are people over there 'fighting for americans", I support them , I support them, I support 'Them"

come on everybody
PLEASE!!! SUPPORT OUR TROOPS
NOT YOUR IDEAOLOGY.
They are 'fighting and dying daily', for all the things 'we' take for granted

if you do not like the job our military is doing please do not bother with using the right they have fought for and get off the keyboard. and what with the "we" i dont think you have been anywhere, not "over there" anyway, or you wouldnt be saying what you are. all these people saying "we shouldnt this" or "we need to come home" never wore a US Military uniform, did they? im guessing most of them didnt, because of military stand together, stand tall and stand proud!
