Nobody is happy all the time. I'm sure they've known real pain in their lives. Maybe they've just chosen to rise above it and enjoy their time here on earth the best the can. There are truly happy people and Christians can certainly number among them. I know through all our troubles my family and I continue to laugh. We love each other's company, even when we're cross. We make the best of what we have. Maybe on the outside it looks like we are happy all the time, but we have ups and downs like everybody else. Maybe that's what is going on with your neighbors. If so, bravo to them. It sounds like they are blessed and balanced.

Maybe not.
I have met people who fake the happy. In my time as a Christian and church go-er I was astounded by how many of those I met. Many were afraid of being judged by their "church family". To be miserable doing "God's will" was a sign that they lacked his grace and were not "really" saved. So they stayed in loveless marriages and had secret affairs. They hid their secret doubts. Women cried in private and complained of overbearing husbands who ignored them and disregarded their opinions and needs. Some of the youth had abusive parents, some had secret abortions and thought about suicide, but come Sunday, everybody was sunshine and roses. Everyone was "happy" because if one, just one person admitted that the system didn't work, the entire house of cards might fall. It was scary.

I wonder that about people sometimes too. My honest opinion (and I mean no offense to anyone of any religion), but to me, religious people seem to live in a bubble. And by that I mean, they don't seem to analyize the world or personal issues in the same way as I do. They leave these problems up to God. Is this perspective good or bad? Are these folks happier than me? I have no idea. Maybe just means I live in a different bubble?

I know the feeling when seeing this. It could be that they believe they must love and not hate. A lot of things in Christianity protect you from sadness. Hope is a central theme as well. Also, family is a gift from God and there are many people unhappy that gave up their happiness in not believing that God's design of marraige and family have much of anything. I really believe a lot of people would be much happier if they understood and followed a more meaningful understanding of sexuality.

Perhaps they are a happy family because their family life is so good. I know that having a loving mother and father and great siblings helped us to be happy most of the time. Also, their beliefs probably help them maintain their happiness. Also, keep in mind that what people seem on the outside may not be the case of how they truly feel on the inside. Hope this helps!

Wow, this is a great and refreshing question to finally read!!! :) As Christians, God gives us a peace and joy inside, even though we still have many problems to deal with, we handle things better because of this. I commend the parents of these teenagers, and would love to have neighbors like yours!!! :)

Believing your good deeds will be rewarded and your soul will go to Paradise can really take the edge off of life. The little things that can annoy and put people in bad moods just don't seem as important.

They could be hiding something but then again they could be spiritually and emotionally connected on a happy level; what's so wrong with being truly happy?
Although in most cases, there could be things going on behind closed doors, that's none of your business. Be appreciative that you have happy neighbors and not weird-o's.

I have to agree with you about that euphoria they seem to walk around in. I am not saying that because they are Christians they must be hiding something but it has come to light that all that glitters isn't gold behind those close doors.
