Did you know that movies for the theater can select from 7 different height & width ratios? 16:9 is not the only ratio.

Movie theaters used to have red-velvet curtains that would move in/out and down from the top so you would not see the 'black-bars' in the theaters.

So when you are seeing 'black bars' - you are seeing the movie in the exact ratio that was shown in the movie theaters, and the director/cameraman chose something different than 16:9.

People who love movies are ok with this. It is called OAR: Original Aspect Ratio.

Your Samsung has an "Aspect" button on the remote or if you go into the TV setup menu you can access a mode to fill the screen. It will distort the image a little bit, but it works.

If you go into your picture settings and set it to auto it should jump automatically go to the best setting for that program or there should be a button on your remote to expand the picture.

you may need to alter the settings of your telly, i've got a widescreen but not as magnificent as yours sounds, but i have to alter the screen size to 16.9 to get a full screen. play with the settings mate.

You always will. If they stretched it out to fit the whole screen, the picture would be distorted. You wont even notice it after a while.
