We all have our limits. I cant stand to see a baby/children hurt by one of their parents or an animal hurt senselessly by the hand of an human (and a few other things, to long to list). But I also know that it is wrong to hate and "my" God said not to judge another to you have walked a mile in their shoes. So, my question to you is "where do you draw the line? where does your love and compassion for another human being end?"

hi,

i hope ye are fine,

"He who loves Christ the most will do the greatest amount of good. There is no limit to the usefulness of one who, by putting self aside,
makes room for the working of the Holy Spirit upon his heart, and lives a life wholly consecrated to God. If men will endure the necessary discipline, without complaining or fainting by the way, God will teach them hour by hour, and day by day. He longs to reveal His grace. If His people will remove the obstructions, He will pour forth the waters of salvation in abundant streams through the human channels. If men in humble life were encouraged to do all the good they could do, if restraining hands were not laid upon them to repress their zeal, there would be a hundred workers for Christ where now there is one. Have a good time

Jesus Christ said (paraphrasing here) that a child abuser is better off being drowned rather than get the punishment that a righteous God would give them. I think it's alright to hate people who hurt babies/children. I know I do. I'm not a member of PETA or anything, but you could report the animal abusers as well as the child abusers. There are laws against those abuses, thank God.

Good question, actually. It is human nature to judge - we make judgements daily, usually within the first 30 seconds of meeting someone, as to whether we will associate with them, if they are bad, good, etc. I think what God was trying to say is related to condemnation - only he gets to decide who goes to heaven or hell - not people.

Where do I draw the line? When people break my trust in humanity, through abusive behavior- verbally, physically, mentally, neglect. When they become two faced. Basically, it is an individual basis, each person gets a chance first - witht he exception of those who abuse small children and animals. Or who allow abuse to continue- to them or others.

It shouldn't end, according the Corinthians 13 we should love our fellow man as God loves them which is unconditionally. Now this does not indicate that there is no justice. God loves us but cannot stop justice from taking us if we have sinned. And yes I used the term cannot. There are eternal laws that he obeys, not because He is forced but because He wants to because it is right (read Euthyphro by Plato for a more detailed explantion.) He does however grant us a way to allow mercy to satisify justice.

Now just because you love someone unconditionally does not mean you allow them to hurt you continually. The Bible says turn the other cheek, but it doesn't say leave it there. Don't be fool enough to do that, continue to love and allow them to repent, but you do not have to be hurt again.

Hate the sin, not the sinner. But, I hear what you're saying. I think I'm too old fashioned anymore, that society has become too tolerant of intolerable things. Try to stop watching the news. Just check the Weather Channel and the sports page.

The Ten Commandments are for use to judge "actions" of ourselves and others to determine right and wrong.

We are never to judge anothers heart (the reason they acted wrongly) because we can never know what cause them to act wrongly. Only God knows the hearts of people.

So love and compassion ends when we begin to think that we know anothers motives or heart.

We are to Love God first, then our neighbor. We are to Love like the little child.

Our love for one another should never end. God demonstrated His love for us in "that WHILE WE WERE STILL SINNERS, Christ died for us." God loved us, and still loves us, regardless of our actions. It's what is called unconditional love.

Likewise, we are to love others unconditionally. That does not mean that we ignore their behaviour, or condone it in any way. We are to love the sinner but hate the sin (after all, we're all sinners).

In regards to your comments about abuse to humans and animals, God would desire that we love the culprit but that they pay for their crime. Love is not a way out of owning up to our actions. We still have accountability.

I too struggle daily with this question. The only thing i can say is this, "Pray for the sick, the imprisoned, the widows and orphans." "Pray for your enemies." Ask God to deliver to them what you want for yourself. Be careful, you will get what you pray for, the time frame is God's.
