I know this question has been asked in the past, but I'm not feeling well at all today, and could use a giggle....

Do you have a moment you can associate with music that REALLY made you feel old?

One of my moments - my hubby & I are in the store. Rod Stewart's cover of "The First Cut Is The Deepest" is playing. Two teenage girls are within earshot. They listen to the song, pause, and begin complaining about how Rod Stewart was covering a Sheryl Crow song, and "can't he write his own songs?"

I honestly don't know what they would have done if I would have mentioned Cat Stevens to them.....

Hearing Jane's Addiction during flashback/retro hour shows on the radio. Those last twenty years went by fast.

That's funny about Rod Stewart. Lately, he's been covering a lot of other performers. I guess everyone is so used to it that the younger generation forgot his original material.

I think I'm having a senior moment right now as I'm reminded that I could have gone to high school with The Breakfast Club.

I agree with lovnrckets and Dave about the radio - it's no fun when the stuff you listened to as a teenager is now on the flashback stations and shows :(.

And what you bring up about covers is also true. I'll never forget the time I overheard a girl talking to her friend once about the amazing song that Mariah Carey wrote called "Without You". I don't think it would have helped if I brought up Badfinger or Harry Nilsson.

My fiance believes that "Rage against the machine" is new, rebellious, hip and controversial. I'm like, honey, that may have been the case a DECADE ago.

My 9 year old son it's trapped in the car with me while I drive him to daycare in the morning. He complains "mom, can we hear something from THIS CENTURY???" and I'm like, Tears for Fears is NOT that old!!!

HHahhahahah

I hope that you feel better today. : )

When people call MCR punk, that does it for me

Also, listening to opera in my car with the windows down, I feel old when people near my age (30's) are in earshot
