She'll need an X-ray to determine the number of pups she is carrying. You need to know so you can be sure of how many pups will be whelped when the time comes.

i think being a year old is kind of young for her to be pregnant! know one knows how many pups she will have, every litter is differant.(talk to the vet and take her in to see if they can tell you how many she will have). with the amount of pups that u are wondering she could have, it could be 9 the first time, and 4 the next time. you wont know until they come out! just keep an eye on her, and make sure to keep her in a warm comfortable place when she has pups. if there is noise, and people where she has her pups, she will get distressed and can hold off labor, which is not good. let her choose the place to have her pups, dont put her where u want her. after the pups are born, u can move momma and the pups, in a queit dimmed light area, she doesnt want to be bothered to much and she will want her privacy!! good luck!!

No certain breed of dog has a certain amount of pups. It mostly depends on the mother and also how often she was bred. Most breeders who know what they are doing will allow their dogs to tie up about 4 times for the entire heat cycle and that's IT. (this is how I do it anyway), resulting in 5-8 pups normally, anymore than that, and you start getting mommies that have 13 and 15 pups for people that just let their dogs "go at it". Only way to tell is to take her to a vet and have a xray or sonogram done.

Dog bodies know what they can handle as far as puppies go, and they typically won't deliver more than they can handle. Small terrier breeds tend to deliver about three to six puppies in a litter. Younger dogs do tend to deliver larger litters on the whole, and litter size tends to go down at about five years. Litter size is completely determined by the amount of eggs released by the female during her season, this is no different than in human fraternal twins, where the mother's body releases two eggs instead of one at the time of ovulation.
Might I inquire as to why you bread such a young dog? It is not generally advisable for any female under two years to deliver puppies, she is not fully grown yet. Keep a careful eye on her, and stay in contact with your vet. She is at a high risk for delivery complications.

It all depends on each Mom
If you will to watch her close she is still a pup at her first heat and may not know how to care for the pups
