Here we have a guy who is convinced that Earth is the only planet in the entire universe that harbors life. This is a fascinating claim, considering that not even the Hubble Telescope can see most of the planets out there.

Beware of the “Black Swan” fallacy. Deductive logic is tautological; there is no way to get a new truth out of it, and it manipulates false statements as readily as true ones. If you fail to remember this, it can trip you--with perfect logic. The designers of the earliest computers called this the “Gigo Law,” i.e., “Garbage in, garbage out.”

Inductive logic is much more difficult --but can produce new truths

well apperently that guys must have visited all the billions of planets that are out there oh yea and ive studied only earth

I actually thought that question was pretty dumb. I haven`t studied any planets but I know better than to make such broad pronouncements.

I think calling his claim fascinating does a huge injustice to the word fascinating.

he's not fascinating, he's deluded...

And the temperature of our planet could waiver 20 or 30 degrees before it would seriously affect ANY life...

Well the qualifications on being a planet (one of them) is that it has to be round, so....why hasn't Rosie O'Donnell been classified as a planet ?
