I've been told Rebecca Hilliard is a second cousin to Nancy Hanks (wasn't she Pres. Lincoln's wife?) So I need Rebecca's parents to start on the search. If you can help me in anyway and lead me to proof of Rebecca being 2nd cousin, I'd appreciate it! First correct answer gets 10 points

I've run into a lot of African American Rebecca Hilliards, but (ours) she's White. Don't get mixed up. I have been getting all the wrong ones.

But - it is a clue, not proof. You might go to a FHC and hunt the happy couple down in the 1900 and 1910 census, with more spelling variations than I had time for. You might find a father-in-law or mother-in-law living with "Orvel" and Rebecca.

Brushing up on your history, Nancy Hanks was the woman Lincoln loved, but he married Mary Todd. Someone famous wrote a poem about it. I have forgotten is Nancy died young or her dad thoght Abe had no prospects.

There's a lengthy story about Nancy Hanks here. It mentions how she went to live with her UNCLE JAMES HANKS, after her parents died in the 1780's. As you can see from above, she was the MOTHER of President Lincoln (his wife was MARY TODD). For Rebecca to be her second cousin, one of James' daughters would have had to marry someone named Hilliard (unless I copied down the wrong one, none of this James' daughters married a Hilliard unless it was a second husband that is not listed).
Nancy would have been FIRST COUSINS to James' children because he and her father were brothers. James' GRANDCHILDREN would be her second cousins,
