Do you wish to avoid the police because of what this person was trying to buy?
Doesn't matter....The police are not going to do anything for you anyway...They NEVER do.
The best way to deal with threats and intimidation is with force...Immediate and superior force.... Have you got friends?

A threat is a crime. Get a tablet and make record of all the threats up to this date....no matter how subtle they may be. This way you have a record by date. Notify the police and make sure they fill out a report so there is a record. The police don't like getting involved in small disputes, but you need to assure them that you are frightened and fear for your safety. If the threats continue then fill a restraining order and then you have more power if they approach you again. Be sure to keep anything tangible (like a note, or letter, or call left on your answering machine) If you are getting calls be sure to record them even if you have to purchase a machine to do that.
Good luck. I have been the victim of stalkers 2 times in my past and it is not comfortable at all and one did take police interference to stop it. But I did not feel comfortable in my own home.

THREATS AND INTIMIDATION
BOTH CAN BE DEALT WITH BY A POLICE REPORT. THE OFFICER TAKING THE REPORT WILL FILE IT. THE PROSECUTOR WILL HAVE THE DECISION TO CHARGE OR NOT TO CHARGE AND THEN COMES ROUND TWO.
IF S/HE CHARGES THE INDIVIDUAL(S) THEN THE COURTS WILL GET INVOLVED.
IF THEY DO NOT?? THEN HAVE AN ATTORNEY STATE BASED ON THE REPORT FILED, ANY FURTHER ACTIONS UPON YOUR PART WILL BE DEALT WITH HARSHLY AS A SECOND OFFENSE.

I would def. look into calling the cops and get a restraining order if you feel they might do something stupid. If not I would contact a lawyer and go about it that way.
