hi, ive just picked out my secret santa present, i picked the most hated girl in work. she belittles everyone and is not very appreciative. For her birthday she asked us all to give her the cash rather than club together and get a gift like we always do. anyway we have only ten pound to spend so i bought just pink from next perfume and a santa mug with a cuddly santa inside with sweets. is this ok? it came to ten pound.... ps... she asked for us all to keep receipts in case. ( dont agree with this)

your answers made me laugh, especially the lemons. once in work a student burnt her toast on her break and the cow complained to the boss about the student. student was really upset too.

I always enjoyed Secret Santa though once I got the worse present, a huge chuck of meat left on my car and I am not into meat.

Picking a suitable present depends on how well you know the person. I think what you picked would be a wonderful present.

Her attitude about cash or giving the receipt is crass and no acceptible. If she does not like the gift, she can quietly re-gift to someone else in the future.

I would recommend that if you don't want her to know you gave her the present, sign the tag or card with Secret Santa. Then after Xmas if she hasn't figured it out, you can decide to tell her or not. When I played SS at work, I never signed the card, but would send email or note clues afterward. Eventually I did tell the person, some of which I did not know and some I did not like.

The idea of SS is to break down those social barriers to people have a chance to get to know others.

She's really lucky you didn't get her a book on manners, but what you got sounds very nice. Maybe a rule should be made about recipients being appreciative even if gift is not EXACTLY what they wanted. She can tell her family & friends EXACTLY what she wants and how she wants it, co-workers have to be more discreet because there are more people involved and you must treat everyone equally. Good luck and God Bless.

Well she sounds like an evil witch to me.

But still, if you are kind hearted and must suffer this, that would be splendid for a friendly present.

Personally, I'd tell her to shove it where the sun don't shine. But i guess, if you have to work with her everday, she could - and from the sound of her WOULD - cause you a lot of un-needed bother.

So yeah, go ahead. Those little nicknacks sound great =]

I would love that present but not knowing her I can't really say if it's suitable or not.
As far as I'm concerned it's the thought that counts and the fact that you went to shops and brought this for her and am concerned enough to be asking us if it's suitable, I say you are thoughtful and kind and I hope she likes your present.

I hope you have a Happy Christmas!

I think thats really rude, don't keep the reciept, say you lost it. Or take the stuff back and buy her a boring book and a mug, and dont keep the reciept then. It should be funny to see her get something she doesnt want.
Never not want!

I would have given her a card with ten pound in it. She obviously does not appreciate any sentiment whether it's her birthday or Christmas. Why set yourself up for ridicule or embarrassment.

You sound like a really nice person who is obviously concerned about whether your pressie will be liked. I think it is only supposed to be a bit of fun and people recieving the gifts should try to enjoy what they are given. It sounds lovely to me. xx

yes its fine although sounds like an ungrateful cow and i'd be tempted to smash it up and then give it to her and say opps i lost the receipt o well. how dare she ask for the money she should be grateful that people got her anything birthday.

I think that's fine, generic enough, although your best bet might have been just to get her a gift certificate or one of those credit card gift cards that she can spend anywhere. Good luck!
