"Well wait till I am in heaven and you will be sorry"

or

"Well we will be gone to heaven and all of you will be suffering on earth"

or

"Well, it's your choice. If you want to go to hell, I can't stop you."

What does that communicate to you exactly?

If I say to a Christian, (I wouldn't actually make such a threat to anyone. So this is hypothetical only)

"Well when you reincarnate or transcend into a miserable existence to learn the lessons you failed to learn in this lifetime, you will be sorry."

I doubt it really would mean ANYTHING to the Christian since they think my beliefs are not true. So if I was trying to hurt them or threaten them, I would be wasting my time (not that I would do such a thing).

So why do they think it is any different with non-Christians being threatened with hell?

Do they say things like that because they think we secretly believe it is actually true?

What exactly is the purpose of such statements?

And no I am not hurt or threatened by such statements. I just find them curious. Its the same as when a Muslim says, 'Allah will burn infidels like you in hell!"
It has no effect on me, cause I don't believe such a thing is true.

Which is why I asked the question about them.

those statements usually come out when they are cornered by logic.

I don't want to offend anyone so if your christian, don't read this!!!!!

I'm atheist and I HATE christians. Not the kind who aren't bible thumpers and you can't really tell if they're religious or not. But the kind where every other word out of their mouth is about god or the bible. I hate christianity becauses it is so fake and nothing from the bnible connects through logic. I also think though that some people take it to far. Like, christians hate gay people yet the bible says nothing about hating gays and that God loves all people no matter what. Adam & Eve supposedly created all people and all of us are children of the lord and Adam & Eve. But if that's true, than we're imbreeding right. Which goes against the bible. And how were all the different races formed then? Everything that has been said in the bible is fake and don't connect whatsoever. Most can be explained through science and logic. It's basically a fairy tale that almost everyone loves. And when we prove to them that it isn't real, that someone just made this up and buried it. But they defend it. They defend it because they love it to death and are willing to fight to the end. We are all a little obsessed with something or someone and when we here bad mouthing, we must defend it. Why? Human nature. It's that animal instinct to protect the ones we love. When someone bad mouths you favorite team, you defend right? Christians just believe this like nothing more, and they will defend it to the bitter end. Hell, when you debate with someone don't you just fell like yelling out "WELL YEAH, F**K YOU" I do. But that's just me. We defend whatever we can. I still dislike christians like nothing more in the world. It pisses me off that they killed innocent people because they were "witches" or they didn't worship the same God. I also hate it when they must retrict everyone from doing what they want when they want. Like sex. Or they have to get into every arguement saying that video games are too violent and should be banned and movies and music. It's bs. I hope oneday that they'll just shut up

First and foremost: religion is for those who believe in hell spirituality is for those that have been there already. a truly god conscious person would never even bother to ask such a question nor, of course would that person with raised consciousness make such salacious comments. FEAR is behind all of this. Do any of you REALLY know where you are going when you die? I think not. you have belief, but noone knows (ok a few do - but i bet that none of you reading this does) so, look within your hearts and have love, compassion and feel kindness for these suffering souls.

As a Christian, I find it disappointing and disheartening to hear other Christians say such things. These kinds of statements seem contrary to all that Jesus taught. The foundation of Christianity, according to Jesus, is love, and it is the joy and the duty of every Christian to reflect God's kind of love to both believer and unbeliever alike. Statements such as those that you used as examples only serve to demonstrate that people who say such things haven't "got it" yet, although they feel very sure that they have. They clearly have not matured spiritually. Undoubtedly, it grieves the heart of God to know that these people use eternal choice as a weapon and a threat against, and not an opportunity for, others who Jesus also came to offer eternal life.

I think it is just part of the arrogance which most Christians have, in assuming that they are going to heaven, even though many of them do little or nothing to deserve it. It's not such an easy place to get into, you know. We believe that no one will enter paradise except by His Grace and Mercy, no matter how many good deeds he does. And it would seem to me that the type of person least likely to go heaven is one who assumes has to be going there.

There is no purpose. Some people (not just christians) are weird and dont understand the true meaning of loveing those around you. I have had the same thing happen to me b4 by the people who were christians and supposed to set an example and love your neighbors as yourself....well they did a bad job of it. I am a christian but ever since being hurt so badly by my fellow believers I have learned that all God wants me to do is the best with what I have been given and try to love people for who they are.

The most amusing thing is that by doing such things, the people you refer to stray from their path. Jesus would definitely not have said anythign so spiteful.

It's best to just hold one fact dear, most Christians will not and cannot make a whole bunch of sense as they will never obtain the perfection they seek, and will put down non-Christians if they do not join in the futile attempt. It's something that's been ingrained into the faith.

Christians are living for the future, they are living their lives now on the promise that a good life will get them into heaven. They more or less have tunnel vision in this regard. They only see their belief and your lack of belief, and the end result, them in heaven, you in hell. Making a statement like what you wrote (when you are reincarnated...) will fall on deaf ears. Christians don't hear that because they are so deeply invested in their own faith that they don't think they can be wrong.

No one has the right to judge. As a christian I know that I will go to heaven, that I am saved, that salvation has to be achieved! I know everything The Bible teaches me because my goal is to live my life based on God's Sacred Words and Commandments BUT I am not allowed to judge people. To tell you the truth The Bible tells us that we should never judge. So by judging people are sinning.
Back to your question, the point is that whatever is written In The Bible Is true and no one can change that - although some people have been trying to do so... God will Never Ever change one accent fromThe Bible and reincarnation IS NOT IN The Bible. So, it does not exist.
The devil has made some stories to betray people. Some of them follow below:
- He made some people believe that God does not exist;
- He made some people believe that he does not exist;
- He made some people believe that heaven and hell do not exist;
- He made some people believe that they will live many lives in order to improve their manner... to get better until they don't need to return again... it is so insane!!
By believing in reincarnation people die without confessing Jesus, wrongly believing that they will have other chances, other lives. They won't. There is only one life. I am sorry about those who die thinking they will be back many times until they get "perfect". In fact they will, like everyone else, just once: The Day Jesus returns for The Judgement of humanity!
This will be a "day of pain".

First, know that not all Christians are brain-worthy. I know quite a number of fanatics telling everyone they will go to hell if they don't believe what they do. This is not a true Christian spirit, and if they say it is, ask them to name one time Jesus cast any one person to hell in the Bible. Answer: none. True Christians would ask you to search for the happiness they themselves found, and ask God himself if it was true.

The point: Take the hell casting with a grain of salt, but try to sieve out what their message really is, and search for it. Behind all this talk of fire and brimstone is a message of truth that is worth looking into.

I am sorry that so many have disrespected you in this way. It is human error because God gave all the power of choice so why should mere humans feel puffed up enough to take it away. We as Christians are called to be witnesses and tell people to be ready for the King of the Universe who promised to return one day. God is love and Jesus was the manifestation of that love...I picture God as a great scientist so after the idea of cloning came out it became even easier for me to understand the virgin birth. The world was first cleansed by water and God's people and animals were put in the ark for protection. The last and final cleansing will be by fire and sin and death will be no more..."It is finished". And God says of Satan, "I will bring thee to ashes under my feet". How people came up with this forever burning I will never know because it is not scriptural. Probably came from a Pagan idea. Sodom and Gomorrah are not still burning...they just burned up and it was complete. You know God loves us enough that He would never force us into His kingdom if we would not be happy there. Mmm
