You should visit motowngirl.com and nappturality.com for some ideas. Motowngirl.com has a lot of product reviews that I found very useful.
If you want to go curly, just wash your hair with any shampoo or conditioner, but some people think we only need to use conditioner. Avoid shampoos with sodium lauryl/laureth sulfate, its very drying. My favorite shampoo/conditioner is Cream of Nature, it's very moisturizing, doesn't have that drying ingredient, and is an excellent detangler and its cheap. Then shake your hair out and let it air dry or blow dry it with a diffuser. If you need some help to get the curls to pop, then you could try Curl.Life by Matrix. It's not that cheap about $11 a bottle but it works better than the knock offs like Garnier Fructis. I used the shampoo, conditioner, and mousse, as well as the deep conditioner. The product is good, but i think its drying, but that may vary from person to person. Another good product is Miss Jessie's Curly Pudding which i tried, and Kinky-Curly Curling Custard. Those products are good if your hair is thick and frizzy. Curling Custard reduces bulk and makes your hair hang. If you don't want to lose volume the key is to not use too much. The thing with curly hair is not to touch it too much, just detangle in the shower ONCE with a wide tooth comb (while you shampoo, but not after, because you don't want to comb out the curls) and then shake it out. It's pretty low maitenence. Hope this helps.

For the tangled business, buy a shampoo and conditioner brand that will untangle your hair in the shower. I use SunSilk and it makes my hair so soft after I put the conditioner on, it also makes it straight. There are also other types of shampoos/ conditioners for your style too. It for volume and bounce. I think it's yellow. It's not expensive by the way. And for your curly needs, you can buy a hair curler at Target and it's only $25, about that price, and you can use it for a really long time. Don't get a perm because it damages your hair more than it makes it curly. And you have to get the treatment every month or so. Good Luck.

Do you have ethnic hair? It probably makes a difference in terms of answering:-))
If you just have generally course hair I would say:
1. Use wide tooth comb or pick after showering to detangle hair gently (add detangling spray if necessary).
2. While still wet and combed, add product to provide texture to hold the curls without frizzies, etc.
3. Roll hair up and pin using your fingers OR basic rollers.
4. Let dry naturally and release the pins.
5. If not completely dry after removing pins, then let air dry a little while longer.
6. When dry finger comb for final effect.
7. If needed add some hairspray to hold.

you probably need to condition it more. i use to have the same problem, my hair dresser recommended that i use L'Anza solutions dryhair formula detangler. she told me to not even rinse it out, kind of like a leave in conditioner, although the directions say to rinse (it worked well to just leave it in). maybe just let your hair air dry part ways, and then blow dry it. ask a stylist the best cut for your hair type. it helps a lot to have a low maintenance cut.

i feel you im so sick of flat ironing my hair and crap so what i do is the night before i go out or just to go to school i waas my hair with a really good shampoo..sunsilk its ofr frizzy and curly hair. i also use the hair products that go with it. i braid my hair because it keeps it untangked and wavy.
but ususally i just use hair grease or gel.....
theres a brand called Got2b...and they make fantastic styling products...they have someting called glue that has the consistency of somewhere between thick glue and is sticky but it keeps them curl nice and crisp ...
i used it once and my curls were intact for three days straight!...all i did was wet it to reset the glue

i take advantage of only Stylin' to maintain my hair clean and frizz loose, and it works great! I heard Sally's has it, so ask around for it. or you may get it like I do from their web site.
