She met this guy while she was at work about 8 months ago. He came in for some assistance and she assisted him. They got to talking and had a really pleasant conversation. When he left he asked if he could have her number and she reluctantly gave it to him. So they became friends. He told he was in a long distance relationship. It was cool cause they were truly just platonic friends. But then he started develping feelings for her. It wasn't like he wanted sex or anything. He never pressured her or even hinted at that. She initially found him annoying and was not the least bit attracted to him, but then recently she developed an attraction towards him. She said they have the most stimulating conversations and he is such a gentleman. He calls every morning just to say goodmorning and when they talk at night he seems genuinely interested in how her day was. Now that they started having feelings for each other the topic of his girlfriend comes up. When she asked him about her he said .....

that he has a lot of pressure from his mom to stay with the girl because his mom really likes her and now he feels torn. The whole thing about the situation is that my friend and this guy were nothing but friends at first and neither one of them planned to develop feelings for the other. Now he cares about her and she is fighting hard not to care about him but the fact is we can't control who we fall in love with. Our hearts can't do what our minds tell it to do. and so now what should these two people do?

Man this sounds very complicated between the two of them. I mean if he really had feelings for her, wouldn't he leave his current girlfriend just to be with her? Unless he is scared of being rejected but otherwise she needs to be treated better then just a rebound girl. Tell her that. Tell her that she's NOT just some rebound girl for him. It's not fair to her if he's just messing around with her heart. He's kind of like two timing his current girlfriend right now. Just talk to her about it even if they don't have anything going between them right now. It's never to late to talk to her about this. Good luck and I hope that my advice helps you to make the right decision. : )

Actually...through a new Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy (Developed by Albert Ellis) you can get your heart to listen to your mind and control it. It's like everyone else said for this situation, if it's meant to be he'll leave the girlfriend for this girl. Then again, what makes you think he won't meet someone new after being with your friend and drop your friend?

She doesn't need to do anything. If he wants to be with her, he needs to get rid of the other girl. If he can't decide, she needs to get away until he comes to some kind of determination about his own feelings.
