I think people have always had problems getting along with their families but it is just more acceptable to talk about it these days. In the past people would refrain from ever speaking ill of relatives in public. It also doesn't help to consistently see happy families in the media (ever tried watching a holiday movie--it can make even the best family look horrible). I think it is best to just accept people for who they are, be thankful for the good and overlook the bad. Also, remember that while you will always have your biological family, you are free to make your own family of friends and contacts who will support you whenever you need it.

Just because they are related in blood does not mean you are going to actually "Like" them....

Family is over-rated and they are always in your business, but never helping with solutions.
