Statements about any group are rarely accurate assessments of more than a small portion of that group. The statements certainly apply to some atheists, but not to all.

...and if you changed "more...than" to "as much...as" and eliminated the word "blind" (to remove the negative connotations of that word), the second statement is completely accurate for all atheists (and for anyone else that believes they know whether God exists or not).

"the atheist is only here on R&S to harass people that admit they have faith."

Depends on the atheist. Not me though.

"... The atheist has to have more blind faith than a Christian because of the way they think."

This is just admitting that faith isn't related to reality.

"... Atheists think their faith is the only one that counts. Anything they can do to deride good honest people is what they desire or they would not be here."

It's sad when one person feels they know the minds of an entire group of people.

I think that could be applied to intolerant, close-minded people of any faith or lack thereof. Especially the third one --

"... Atheists think their faith is the only one that counts. Anything they can do to deride good honest people is what they desire or they would not be here."

Not all atheists are like this, but some are. The same goes for Christians. Some are interested in good, honest interfaith dialog, and some just want to try to discredit your beliefs and/or convert you. You can't paint everyone with the same broad brush, and you shouldn't limit your criticisms of certain behaviors to one group.

People's egos get in the way. When that happens, it's impossible to go through the day without being offended. If you let you ego rule your life, then you'll always be ready to be offended, and will have no lack of offenders.

These are people's opinions, and I've seen similar statements that were from atheists and agnostics about those of faith. If we worry about what others think about us, then we lose our own self respect. That means we see their opinion about us as more valuable than our own.

I think that there is no shortcoming in ones opinion. Shortcomings are when you take an opinion and apply your judgement to it, and allow it to offend you. I try hard to be like water in a river...I move as I will, and don't worry about the rocks in the way...I just go around them.

I dont agree with the absolutes in those statements for we all really are different and have different reasons for being in Yahoo. I'm a Christian and I enjoy a good QA with some atheists on here. I love knowledge and learning new ideas. With that said, I have to agree that alot (not all) of non-christians (not just atheists) tend to come on here for some "fun" as I have seen it stated many times over. I think it is because many (again, not all) atheists see our beliefs as fodder and enjoy a good laugh at ones they find to be delusional. I am repeating exactly what I have seen, not making up things to feed some sort of persecution complex. That my take on it at least.

That about sums it up. That rant and rave about the bible being nothing but a book wrote by me, yet they base their live and future on a science text that was written by.......??? It not enough that they chose to not believe buy they want everyone else to cease to believe as well. They only hate Christianity but have no problem with witchcraft, Buddhism, Islam and other false religions in public, or the schools, yet claim they have no agenda. The want to take a nation who's roots are clearly based on Christianity and convert it in to a atheistic nation modeled after the USSR, or Cuba, why they cant relocate is beyond me.

atheism is not a faith. It is the antithesis of faith.

There are only atheist because there are "beleivers" There is no day without night.

and I wouldn't go pointing fingers about acting like yours is the only view that counts. Remember the Crusades, the Inquisition, the Salem withch trials?

Of course not. Christians hate atheists, so they rabidly lick up any negative thing one of their own might ejaculate vis a vis atheists.

I'd write more, but I've only got enough time for one more quick prayer to Hitler before the baby I'm microwaving for lunch is done...

This is childishly naive nonsense, much like ID. Believers see only what they want to see and lie outrageously to defame anyone who does not agree with them. Things are distorted to boost their childish egos and put down anyone who disagrees with their groundless beliefs. They violate some of the Bible rules in saying such untruthful rubbish. That is blatant hypocrisy.

1) Many Atheists just wrote as much.
2) Not wholly unreasonable.
3) There is a great amount of disrespect for each other as human beings on both sides.
