In the story of Noah's Ark, the whole world was flooded. Noah sent out a dove to find land, and the dove came back with an olive branch, showing there is land. Then, a rainbow appeared, and God promised to never flood the land again.

Yes the Dove was present after the flood, it returned with an olive branch.

A Dove was present when Jesus was baptized..
Mark1:10 As Jesus was coming up out of the water, He saw heaven being torn open and the Spirit descending on Him like a dove.

Genesis 8:11 When the dove returned to him in the evening, there in its beak was a freshly plucked olive leaf!

The end of the great flood (Noah) - they saw a dove with an olive branch in it's mouth, and a rainbow.
The first signaled the end of the flood, the second God's covenant with man to never flood the Earth again.

Genesis 8:11

"When the dove returned to him in the evening, there in its beak was a freshly plucked olive leaf! Then Noah knew that the water had receded from the earth."

I think it was more of a symbol of the hope for peace and people picked up on it that way in the 1960s as a symbol to protest the destruction of the Vietnam war.
