With money being an issue. Have you considered inviting and requesting a covered dish. This will work out great. But to be on the safe side make sure you prepare some dishes such as you main course, meats, dessert. I live in the south this usually work just fine.

Good point IT Guy! Yes, if you are near a border, why not enjoy the freedom of being able to leave the country on vacation? That is not something you can do whilst waiting for approval (advance parole does not usually cover vacations).

Of course hun, here is what you could do! Invite close friends and family over for a lunch, dinner is too formal, lunch you could get some really simple recipes from www.foodnetwork.com and have a lunch that will impress and your husband will be extremelly happy that you had the thought! There is this lady named Sandra Lee and she has some wonderful recipes, not only that they are very simple and easy to make. I hope this helped and I hope everything goes wonderfuly perfect!

Would you guys pretty please please please answer this? ;)

Well, congratulations to your husband. I suggest an all American barbecue. Plenty of hot dogs!
