Can you please give gd and bad points of GM Crops!! Tryin to write a article on it and want people's views.

I once purchased some poblano peppers and they were uncommonly large. Well, it turned out they were the strangest ones I have ever eaten, and hope never to eat again. Poblano peppers are mildly hot, the bottom tip tasted like green bell peppers and as you moved up they became hotter and tasted like a poblano pepper.

To this day I am totally convinced I purchased some hybrid or genetic experiment, which was sold cheap in Mexican supermarkets. How convenient.

My fear with GM crops is that we really know nothing about the effects they might have on human beings, or how these might affect us on a cellular or chromosomal level. Genetic engineering uses large molecules that act as markers and I do not know what that does to people. The seed companies sure as hell won't tell you.

I think that Genetically Modifying crops is fraught with long term dangers. Nature has developed a complex balance of plant and insect evolution that could be dramatically altered by quick fix modifications. Scientists although very intelligent fail to see the long term problems. They recently insisted on 100 yard so called safety zones between crops. Birds and insects carry seed and pollen etc for miles and even thousands of miles. What kind of idiot scientist thought this one up??

in general people are frightened of and don't understand GM, the science is very precise & safe, ask youself this, would you like to see a vast reduction in the use of chemicals? well GM allows us to grow a crop & only spray it once with a very safe herbicide so safe in fact we can use it in water courses to kill weeds with no effect on fish or any other wildlife or insects. the technology exists to grow oil crops already flavoured with garlic. how about a crop that has no effect on hayfever sufferers. we also have a rapidly expanding world population, the oil is getting used up GM will allow us to feed people more healthily & cheaply, we can also grow fuel crops to power our transport systems with zero immissions, oh and one more thing we now have the ability to grow medicines in potatoes, another example is the antifreeze gene taken from a fish introduced into roots now the rootcrop does not freeze there is no risk involved but millions of pounds worth of crops are now safe in winter storage witch now has no need for any expensive heating, biodegradable plastics the pro's are endless i can't think of any con's

It is a subject that will go 50-50. You'll get people who will argue that it could wipe out starvation...imagine an apple having all the calories, vitamins and nutrients of a 3 course meal ???
On the other hand..see above answer about allergies. But I'm sure the scientists could work on something that will eradicate food allergies in the future.
My cousin was extremely allergic to all kinds of foodstuffs.. milk products, gluten and nuts. Sadly she died eating something that brought on extreme side effects.

Anyway.....maybe, as I said, food allergies would be a thing of the past.

In theory, you can create a more nutritious food, or a heartier crop, by genetically modifying. Cross breeding has been around for centuries.

I'm personally against it, as I have severe food allergies. It's hard enough to carefully read the labels on prepared foods. How am I supposed to know if my tomato is "all" tomato, or contains DNA from something I'm allergic to?

it rather is nice that human beings want a greater acceptable, cleanser destiny! at times i ask your self how lots of a prediction is in step with technological awareness and how lots is made by utilising Media Soothsayers! There in all probability is greater CO2 in the ambience. there is further and extra human beings the international inhabitants hasn't slowed! If we are experiencing greater warmth, does not that be good for the plant life? it could be good to have genetically changed plant life, besides. plant life and trees take in CO2 and supply off Oxygen, so does not an better quantity be good? it could be good if a scientist had a fact, like a flesh presser, so we could hear from the horses mouth! perhaps scientist ought to be greater excited approximately Earth than Mars!
