Yes funny how they are wanting help from the very people they ban from their city.
Wouldnt let Marines film commercial there, Wouldnt let recruters go to schools, Wouldnt let navy ships dock.
Now they want coast guard help. Too ironic.

I am a Merchant Marine.
The Navy would not have done anything.
the Cost Gaurd patrols the water and is incharge of Harbor traffic.
The Media is hillarious. They say it was human error. Your driving a boat and you hit a bridge o couorse it is human error. What else would you expect?
The only difference between driving a ship carrying a few hundred thousand barrels of oil and a car is that the ship is allot harder.
Prosecuteing theese guys is joke. If you put oil on a boat expect some to get in the water

The Bay Area is so anti military its sickening...
Odd how all these oil spills occurred within days of one another; one hits a bridge in calm waters in SF, others sink in a raging storm(Black Sea in Russia). No ship should have been out in, especially with all the weather information available today.
One wonders if enviromentalists "powers that be "shelled out a goodly sum to get these 'crisis' to occur? Now that it has happened there will be wailling & gnashing of teeth, wads of money in their coffers, stories about the evil oil companies in the news, laws passed and lots of media time for them.
I used to belong to many enviromental organizations but there is just something about them I don't trust.
I also don't believe in coincidence.
p.s. Alaska recovered from Valdez.. the bay will recover from this one too. By next year you would never know it happened.

Regardless of their political shortcomings, no one deserves an environmental crisis. I've been stationed in the Bay Area, and while its not the greatest place to be in the military, I've been in far worse places. Its not the birds' fault their politicians are a little loco.

are you suggesting that the oil spill was done on purpose and that the oil companies will now try to soil the nation if we don't go along with their tax exempt status.
i guess the DA there did the right thing in detaining the entire crew and is considering criminal charges...

I do not know if they got what they deserved but the sea creatures and the total environmental impact will be very bad.
