My fiance wants to get married in early August. I say too hot. I want to have the wedding in late September or early October. She doesn't want to be cold. Any ideas?

August can be hot, I know from personal experience. My sister got married in August years ago. Well wouldn't you know that it would be the hottest day of the year. Close to 100 degrees. The cake was melting, people were melting :). It was very uncomfortable with dresses and tuxes on. Just miserable! The reception was held in our back yard, we had a in-ground pool. The reception became a pool party because it was so hot, no one was supposed to use the pool. If you choose August make sure you are in a venue that has plenty of air conditioning in case of an extremely hot day. And if you have an outside event make sure you have plenty of refrigeration for your food. We had some turkey that spoiled in a matter of minutes that day it was so hot.

September is a much better month, less humidity but still very nice weather. I don't think it would be too cold unless you are going to be outside in the evening. October is also nice but you really have to take each day as it comes. Some days warmer than others.

Any month between June-October. August can be hot, but so can September. I remember some days in October that where in the 80's in some parts of the region. However, October can be very cold too. Really, you can't predicted. I say, go with the month that is most convienent scheduling/price wise. Also, consider what colors you want to use or if you want part of the reception outside. If you want anything outside, go for August. It's more comfortable for the guests. Most guest would rather be hot then freezing.

August is too miserably hot in NJ. Definitely go with early October! Or even wait to mid/late October when the fall colors start showing in the foliage. This makes for gorgeous pictures!

I am originally from NY so the weather is almost the same in NJ. I got married in late October, the weather was perfect, a lil cool but that's how my husband rather it be (he hates to be hot). My dress had sleeves so I was completely comfortable.

I'd say if your fiance doesn't want to be cold, go with September.

I agree, August can be hot and sticky....mid to late September, early October or early May are probably the best...also consider where you are going on your honeymoon because a lot of places are in hurricane season in September and October...but since kids are back in school, rates are usually low.

september and october have become as popular (and expensive!!) as spring weddings in NJ.. if you do august a lot of people will be on vacation and won't come.. if you do sept/oct it will be more expensive.. if everything but the photos is inside i think august would be fine.. especially if you do it by the water or in the mountains where it is cooler.. there are cold days in the summer and 90 degree days in the fall.. don't count on the weather going a certain way..

I'm from Jersey too!!! I got married in March, in Manasquan and we were able to take pictures on the beach:) It was cold, but worth it.

Anyway, yeah, August is REALLY hot. If you are planning on getting married at the same place as the reception and you don't want to take pictures outside, that's fine. If not, and you want to take pictures outside, I would suggest May or September. May is nice because everything is in bloom and the weather is perfect. Keep in mind that reception places are going to charge you more for May-Jun and Sep-Oct.

Good Luck!!! Where are you from? Where's the reception?

Well, I live in Philly, which is pretty close. It was really nice in September this year, so that mught be a good way to go. August can be stifling and you run the risk of the cold in October but I think September would be great.

August is a hot and sticky month. Is the church and reception hall air conditioned?

Point out how pretty it is in the Autumn. Late September sounds glorious! We married in late Oct, and got lucky enough to have had a late autumn that year. I remember beautiful gold and red trees, and a temp that was just right. One of the first things I remember when I think of that day was how beautiful the day was.

I got married in June (I live in Boston). However June can be hot or cold. I got married and it was 105 and then the next week it was 60. I think Sept. or Oct is a great time to get married.
