Yes indeed! During World War Two nearly 75% of the enlisted sailors and Navy officers in the Pacific theater were reservists, including five former U.S. Presidents. A National Guard artillery outfit from Kentucky was one of the most decorated units in Vietnam. Over 50 thousand Guard personnel served in Indochina during that war. Right now there are thousands of Air Guard personnel providing protective air cover in our skies under Operation Noble Eagle.
They served. They sweated. They bled. They are veterans in every respect.

For many veteran's benefits (such as VA home loans), upon completion of 24 months Guard and Reserver personnel are eligible.
Other's require completing a first term of enlistment. Still others require active duty service time and yet otehrs require a particular length of AD duty.
Any benefit in particular you were thinking of?

Thank you smoker06 for adding that. I'm a women in the reserves. I would like to think that after operation iraqi freedom, i'd be looked upon as a veteran (upon retirement). I'm paying the same price active duty soilders are. I'm away from my family, my home, and i'm being shot at just like every other soilder whos standing next to me.
