OK, I'm getting married this coming summer, Well I live in Arizona and its pretty hot here in the summer time. After our ceremony and its time for the reception like after our first dance, meal...etc. Am I still suppose to keep the dress on? Its strapless but still hot. Is there another "party" dress I can wear or am I just suppose to wear it the whole time.

We are expecting the party to last awhile....due to both families being quite the partiers...

There is nothing more miserable than being hot and icky feeling. If you want to change, maybe you can find a white sundress for the reception. Look at the links below, maybe that will give you an idea of what you would like. And you can wear something besides white, its not like the people there won't know you are the bride! But if you want to keep the "bridal" feel, white might help. Its your day, enjoy it!

Most brides wear the same dress the whole time. However I know how Arizona can get. ( I live in Cali and my mom is in AZ)
Here is an idea: Wear your big wedding dress for the ceremony and then get a lighter weight, to the floor or calf length white dress for the reception. Change in to that dress after pictures. This way you have the elaborate dress for the ceremony and a cooler sophisticated dress for the reception.

Hey, it's really up to u. But if it's outside u may want to change. U have a lot of options.
1- keep the hot dress on b/c it is indeed the ony time u would wear it.
2- Change into another white dress which is more cooler. I say stay in white or whatever color ur wedding dress b/c it is still ur wedding day.
3- If u have a themed reception u may want to change into something that goes w/ the theme.
4- My favorite. (I use to want to do this but have changed my mind b/c i want wedding party to be comfortable and not pay so much money) u can change the clothes of ur wedding party into customized clothes. b/c ur in arizona u don't want sweat suits. But put ur wedding party in t-shirts and tank tops. have the front cutomized with that person names and the back will say either bride, groom, bridemaid, groommen etc.
5- just be comfortable w/ some shorts or whateva u find comfortable.
Hope this helps Congrats and Good Luck!!

I would normally say that you should keep your dress on the whole day. However you're saying your having an outdoors Arizona summer wedding. That means 110 degree heat in the early afternoon! I suggest you find a pretty summer dress to change into after the formalities have been taken care of. Otherwise you know you're going to be miserable. Since the party is going to last awhile also make sure they're is a lot of extra bottled water available.

Of course you can wear two dresses! Brides to it all the time.

Personally, I chose to only have one dress because I couldn't bear spending so much money on such a beautiful dress to only wear it for an hour.

One thing you could do is wear the dress for part of the reception, (since you say it will last a while) then at some significant point change into your other dress. Maybe after dinner, before your first dance. Make a big deal out of it, it'll be fun!

I wore my wedding gown all day. It doesn't get QUITE as hot here as it does in Arizona but it was definitely super hot the day of our wedding. I felt like my dress was a sauna. It just trapped the heat. I wouldn't have ever wanted to change dresses though. However, this is me, personally, for MY wedding.

Regardless of what I chose to do, I see NOTHING wrong with getting a second dress. Wear your gown to the wedding and a second dress to the reception. Even if you want to wear your wedding gown for the dinner, speeches, cake cutting, etc. and change later in the evening into a nice cocktail dress... that way, you have your expensive dress for all the formal events and you can party away in comfort the rest of the evening. Do what you feel will allow you to be the most comfortable!

Good luck and have a great time!

Typically American brides wear the wedding dress for both the ceremony and reception. But, you should wear whatever you're comfortable in. If your wedding dress is really hot and uncomfortable, have a cooler back-up dress with you so that you can change if you need to.

Most brides wear the same dress for the ceremony and reception, but some do change.

I'd suggest sticking with a white dress for the reception, too. You'll "stick out" as the bride more that way, and it is more traditional. But, if you have something else in mind, and the white dress idea doesn't matter to you, feel free to wear what you want.

You can wear whatever you want!! This is you and your hubby to be's day so wear what you feel most comfortable in. I wore my dress all day only because I figured if I was spending 700 on it that I was going to make it last. But I have been in plenty of weddings where the bride has changed into something more comfortable. I've even seen dress suits instead of another dress. So Good Luck and Congrats!!!!

It's traditional for the bride to continue to wear her gown at the reception. However, a growing trend is for the bride to have 2 dresses for her big day--the gown and a more casual, yet just as cute and appropriate dress. You may want to look into that. Both dresses are generally white.
