Tea is the second most popular beverage in the world behind water and the Brits are one of many cultures that subscribe to this way of life. Coffee became popular in America during colonial times when the Brits put a heavy tax on tea. The colonists started drinking coffee as a way of protesting this heavy tax and the tradition continues to this day.

Coffee is very popular in England. In fact coffee was more popular than tea in the 1600's - England had a thriving coffee house industry (first in London in 1652). Tea did not become popular until almost 100 years later. It was introduced though in about 1657 via the coffee houses of London and that began coffees downfall.

I only drink coffee may partner only drinks tea

Who says they don't drink coffee???

Coffee is drunk the world over...and yes, even in the U.K.

You need to look at the difference in tea and coffee and the caffeine levels...

Personally speaking, I'll drink coffee first thing in the morning and maybe later if I'm still feeling a little tired. I find tea more refreshing and lighter so I'll drink that with light meals like a sandwich or breakfast.

I think you're a little naive to assume people in the U.K don't drink coffee.

Yes they do. Though around our office there are more cups of tea consumed than coffee, but that's an economical thing. The cost of a good cup of coffee from the cafe is far in excess of the cost to an individual who drops a tea-bag into a mug and having a pick-me-up for pennies on the pound.

Cheers
