the fish eye gives too much distortion, i'm looking for something that will allow a wider shot, but not be distorted, and of course not change the whole lens since that is expensive alternative

i have to take pictures of small rooms in a home

thanks

There are filters to do that. You can go to http://www.srb-griturn.com/mounted-filters--accessories-54-c.asp

There are screw-on wide filter adapters, but the quality on them sucks. You get the distortion you describe.

You would be better served with a wide-angle lens. If you don't mind manually focusing, try the Tokina 12-24mm f/4 lens.

If you need to autofocus, then the more expensive Nikon 12-24mm f/4 AF-S lens is your only option.

The Nikon 14mm (equivalent to a 22mm lens on a 35mm film camera) or the Nikon 18mm (29mm on a 35mm film camera) should take care of your needs. An accessory lens that screws into the filter threads of your lens will not give you quality results.

You need a different, wide angle lens that isn't a fish-eye.
