I am from boston, grew up and had no school on vetrans day but here in florida, my 9 yr old daughter had school...did your kids have school today?

2 of my children, who are school age did have school today. when i grew up we would go out and watch the vetrans day parade but it seems they do it less and less. my oldest, her father and my current husband are vetrans and i believe it should be honored. they get off of school for the silliest things these days but they are in school on vetrans day, i think its ridiculous.

Here in Canada, I always had school on remembrance day. When I was a kid, they would have a big assembly in the gym and hold a remembrance day ceremony. There would be a moment of silence, and the kids would recite poems, maybe the choir would sing a song, or a veteran would do a presentation. As I got older though, they just did a moment of silence. I guess they figured that older kids wouldn't care much.

Yes and I thought it was only because they go to a private day school, but it appears the public schools have class today as well. I believe they took the day from Veteran's day and made another winter holiday when they changed to the whole "presidents day' thing.

I'm in southeast Idaho. The local schools and the university are open.
Veterans Day was actually yesterday, but I guess some school districts and universities chose to celebrate it today...

I live in ne ohio and the kids here had school today but I think that vets day was yesterday.

I'm in southwestern Ohio & yes, kids were going to school today. College campuses are closed, though.

In SF, CA area there's no school. We take our kids to parades and we put up flags at the cemetaries for our family members.
