I have yet another stray cat in the yard. I do not know if it is a drop off, or a lost pet. It appears to be not yet a year old, though almost big enough to be. Skinny as a rail, friendly enough but shy. It has long fur so I cannot tell if it male or female, and I am thinking it must have some illness like parasites since it has obviously been outside for quite some time.
I am willing to get it to a vet and have it gone over completely, but have no where to keep it. It cannot be in the house as we have three other cats, so does anyone have any ideas where I can take this to get it adopted out? Three different animal hospitals around here all told me they are full, and do not accept full grown cats. I told them it looked like a kitten but bigger. It's cute-it looks like Sylvester the cat. I really don't want to leave it outside as when it cries, it's like ringing the dinner bell for the coyotes.
Any suggestions, please.

Nice of you to care, I wish more did.

Do you have a PetSmart near you? Each one has catteries, and the groups are rescue groups. Please approach them and ask if they can take the kitty. If you are able to donate a bit for the kitten's care, that will help them. All rescues are pretty strapped, and this was a terrible, long, hot kitten season.

If they cannot help, ask them for references. Call every vet you can find. Call every rescue group you can find (go to petfinder.com... put in your zip and those around you... you will find the rescue groups there. Also do the same with 1-800-save a pet.

Kitty needs to get off the streets now, even if it means getting a very large wire cage off craigslist and putting it in a garage with litter box and food and bedding.

Best to you.

You could try Craigslist in the area. Also your local paper, run an ad. I'm sure you're not looking to make money, but putting "free to a good home" in the paper or anywhere is a bad idea, it could get used for research and stuff like that.
What I'd do is say "Found cat, $30 adoption fee" or whatever (along with details of course). Then if you get a response from someone you really think legitimately wants the cat, you can tell them privately not to worry about it, you just want it to have a good home or whatever.
I'd love to take it in for you lol but I can't unfortunately. Good luck, thanks for being so caring!
P.S. If you're willing to try, look for a low-cost/free spay/neuter clinic around - that way kitty can't get pregnant or get others pregnant while you're looking for it's new home.

DO NOT DO FREE TO A GOOD HOME AD.
It is established fact that abusers and bunchers - for Class B dealers who sell them into medical or lab research look high and low for free animals to acquire for these sinister purposes. There was recently a big expose on free to good home ads on craigslist which has resulted in horrible abuse to animals, we are talking torture, mutilation and death. If someone has to pay a donation to take an animal, they are far less likely to be an abuser, a "buncher", a Class B USDA dealer or some general sicko.
I wish people would educate themselves on these issues - people think they are doing something good with these free to good home ads when in fact they are doing more harm. The solution is for humans to get more responsible and to spay and neuter their pets. Petsmart, Petco and all them post Free to Good Home ads. Call your local humane society, just keep calling or take the animal in yourself - if even only temporarily. Not sure where you live but the North Shore Animal League is good, the Humane Society of the United States is another place you can call even if they just give you some pointers and tips.

If re-homing centers are full the best idea is to secure a room off from your other cats so it is safe and look for certain websites to advertise that a kitten needs re-homing, if you say its free it will not be long before someone offers to take it off your hands. Or until a space becomes available at the centers?

i'm very sorry to your loss. Its a disgrace that the hot proprietor allowed the cat outdoors in site visitors and did no longer take as stable care as she ought to have. i do no longer blame you for being indignant, yet yelling at her shouldn't exchange her or deliver your kitty decrease back, it is going to easily make you be labelled as a extraordinary guy or woman. Write down your rage and sorrow in a mag, say it out loud to your self, and burn the pages of the magazine. which will help.
