The notion of ANY nation becoming a Christian theocracy is anathema to Jesus' teachings. He clearly taught that, until His return, Christians are to be weak; we are not to build empires and become outrageously strong. We are also not to force our beliefs onto ANYONE.

t90fan, the reason Iran does not have extreme sectarian fighting (there is some fighting, if you do not know about it, then try looking into a news source that actually covers Iran's internal struggles) is because the government has chosen a particular Islamic sect. The government there has issues with other sects of Islam, and major ones with other religions that do not want to live as Islam dictates other religions should live. Islam, to a small extent, does allow for other religions within a land controlled by Muslims... several sects of christianity do not. Depending on which version of christianity was in power, millions of people in the US would have a very rough time living here... I would hate it if people were allowed to come to my house and pimp their religion every day , bothering me when I am sleeping, bitching about me not going to a church on sunday, telling me I have to work on my sabbath, etc... oh, wait, they ALREADY do that!!! No, I do not want this nation any more christian than it is now.

While it is true that the original colonists who came to America were trying to escape religious persecution in England, it would be false to claim that the United States were founded as a Christian nation. The United States were founded on their secular Constitution, and while a majority of the Founders had Christian beliefs, these differed widely. They were wise enough to realize that in order to ensure true freedom of religion, their young nation needed to endorse none. Hence the spirit of the First Amendment to the Constitution.

very well thought out pixie mm well done,, question WHY THEIR BE soo many different denominations baptist, church of God ,methodist, luthern etc etc IF THEIR BE ONE BIBLE THEY ALL AGREE IS WHAT THEY RELY ON?? seems to me then their is a whole lot of confusion here hmm?? IS JESUS the author of confusion then??, IF WE WERE truly born again our lives would revolve around EXACTLY WHAT JESUS HIMSELF taught .. LADIES would not be woried aboutwether or not they could do this or that for they would want to honor their creator and in love submit their life to what is best,, th same applies to men also . how far will the ecumentical movement ,, meaning different denominations,, go to arrive at unity?? who will give up what they believe is truth for unity ,, ?
THE TEN commandments point out sin , ok so which one do we do away with to compromise ?? stealing well it is just a little sin, lie .well it to is just a little sintoo we can tell the truth always or we might hurt someone ,, MAYBE its best we leave this or that out or it will affect how we too have to live , , idol worship>. well we can always say this is an image to GOD so it cant be tooo bad .. honor your parents ,, noo let the goverment take care of this , thats why we pay taxes ..; take GODS NAME IN VEIN hmm thats is old fashioned we dont do that next!! adultery>> if u throw one away or look the othe way ------- what next??
america is not a christian nation it once had priciples that were their GUIDELINE . AND GOD did use this nation to HIS advantage ,, AMERICA IN MOST will not submit to the laws of God they form their own laws have a form of religiosity as well,, sad sad ; many too are in ignorance , jesus SOON WILLhave HIS angels loose the four winds that hold back the strife read about this in revelation CHAP 14 v 6 and on ; peace work time , bro mj

I believe strongly in the separation of church and state for the exact reasons you cite. No one denomination or sect should be "calling the shots" or establishing a state religion. This is precisely what the founding fathers wanted to guard against.
HOWEVER freedom OF religion is not the same as freedom FROM religion. This country was founded on basic Judeo-Christian fundamental principles. Most people even as recently as a generation ago could agree on these basic tenets whether or not they shared the same religious faith, or at least respected that they were a part of the country's foudation. The founding fathers and other scholars of the time were quite sure that the only way a democracy would survive was if the people being governed and participating in it "of the people, by the people, for the people" had a basic moral compass upholding their beliefs and practices. The ultimate democracy in a society with no such underlying principles is anarchy.
I as a Christian further believe that God will only bless this nation and stay His hand of judgment while we are pleasing Him. It's a wonder He hasn't smote us down already!

That is truly scary and that is why all atheists must fight against theism making its way into any part of society, and that is theism from any level or any religion. They must be stopped. Religion is the reason why Europe went through the "Dark" Ages, and only until religion had started to lose its grip on Europe did the age of enlightenment come about. When are people going to realize that Christianity alone throughout our history destroyed the progress of humans for the better part of 2000 years, let alone what Islam and Judaism, etc have done to human detriment.

1 - Unitarians
2 - non-Christian Americans will not be considered citizens, and as such will not be required to follow any laws at all. This will expose them for the lawless heathens they are.
3 - All Biblical laws will be enforced, even the contradictory ones, under pain of death.
4 - Yes, because non-Christians are all lawless heathens, and so won't be able to be judges.
I really don't think most Christians have given this much thought, but it's crazy enough, it just might work!!

Great question.
You forgot one of my favorites, though.
5. If the chosen (or majority) religion is not your denomination, do you agree to follow its tenets (since you WANTED a Christian Nation)? EG: if you were Protestant would you take communion if Catholicism was the dominant religion? If you were a Catholic and the official book was the King James translation, would you switch? etc.
Bonus Question. If the US had a theocracy but it was not Christian would you be more or less upset? Mormon Nation? Jehovah's Witness Nation? Muslim Nation? Jewish Nation? Hindu Nation? Wiccan Nation?

I would say leave it as it is, with over 3,000 different religions and cults some stating that they are the only true religion and all the different prophets we have to knowing the end times dates I would not like to see a one religion in control. None of then agree with each other, most have their own Jesus Christ to preach with strings attached it would be a horror dream come true, look what religion has done for us until now! It has really given itself a great name with mega bucks to spend and the abuse of our children.
