first of all you should never take medicine on an empty stomach. On the bottle of IBuprofen there is warnings and such like can cause liver damage and stomach bleeding because it is very strong. Yes taking 6 ibuprofen is only bad if taken all at once. Always take with a full glass of water.

Taken on an empty stomach ibuprofen can cause ulcers. And if taken in excess canprobably cause liver problems as well.

If you are only taking 4 a day only on the days you have cramps... with food, then you should be just fine.

ibuprofen is a pain reliever, as long as you take it only when needed you will be ok, i am not a doctor so for a medical opinion ask you doctor. i do know that aspirin has been known to cause these problems but i haven't heard about ibuprofen

Honey let me tell you, my mother takes about 6-8 ibuprofen once or twice a day. It is ridiculous, I know, I'm sure her insides are eaten up by now, she just doesn't care. Believe me you are not gonna get hurt by taking 2, twice a day if you only take it during that time of the month. Or whenever you have another ache or something, you'll be fine!

Any medication can be bad when taken more than recommended. Read the label on the bottle and don't go above the maximum daily dosage. Are you have cramps all the time or is it just for that time of the month? If it is only a day or 2 during the month what you are taking is more than okay.

Two pills twice a day is fine. Naproxin sodium also works really well for cramps. I like to alternate between the two... one month I'll take Ibuprofin and the next I'll take Naproxin (I never take different pills in one day). I've found that I started to get immune to Ibuprofin and it doesn't work as well.
You can take 1000mg of Ibuprofin at a time without it hurting you. I had minor surgery once and the doctor prescribed me a 1000mg pill. I wouldn't do it often though... just when you really need it.

Ibuprofen is an anti-inflammatory. The body's natural defense against disease uses the anti-inflammatory process to fight it. When you take an anti-inflammatory like Ibuprofen, aspirin, etc., you are stopping this natural process. The liver is over burdened just from eating the American diet. When you add drugs to that burden, your hormone production will suffer. The pain you are feeling from the cramps is your body crying out to you that you need to do something to fix the cramps.

There are a lot of nutritional things you can do to alleviate the things that are causing the cramps in the first place. Low fat diets, high carb intake, create much of the problems like this in the U.S. What is amazing to me is how the drug industry and medical industry has generated huge business trying to mask symptoms instead of fixing the real problem with the food supply. Once you learn what is really good for you and the things that will nourish your body, you will not be able to walk down a "super" market ailse without feeling like you are about to walk down death row. It is truly amazing.

Taking the anti-inflammatory medications will damage your liver and stomach. Your liver is critical to your survival and to your well being. The bile is made in the liver. The quality of this liquid depends on many things, but if the liver is not functioning well due to drugs and toxic chemicals from preservatives, insecticides, chemicals used around the house, and bad oils like Canola, Soybean, Cottonseed, and Corn that have been genetically engineered, etc., the rest of the body is going to suffer greatly.

When I hear people say, "oh just a little of that won't hurt you," I have to look at the statistics and think about all the ignorance we deal with each day. If you were to fix the stomach cramps by hitting yourself on the head with a steel pipe and going unconscious, you could relieve the stomach cramps, but just imagine how you would feel when you woke up? So you've learned not to do it, right?

You need to concentrate on fixing your hormone problems so you won't get those cramps in the first place. Doctors are not the place to find answers to this because they are forced into a protocol by the AMA whereby they are required to diagnose you and find a disease, then treat you with only drugs or surgery. That is there only options or they lose their license to practice medicine.

A good resource to help you is to find a good certified nutritional therapist that understands how the body works and get on a good solid program of health.

good luck to you
