Yes, defiantly, more permanent than long term I'd say...

One can of lager, depending on strength is 2 to 4.5 units. This makes 10 cans 20 to 45 units which makes your weekly intake somewhere between 140 and 305 units or between 6 1/2 and 14 1/2 times the recommended intake for a male!

This is more than enough to get you in to bother, both with regards to ulcer and liver problems, in addition stopping drinking suddenly from that level is also certain to cause withdrawal symptoms, the DTs, which are at best unpleasant and and worst can cause fitting. Go see you GP to discuss getting some help.

well I have heard that damage caused from drinking can be reversed if you stop before serious liver damage- i.e cirrhosis etc. Are you sure you can give it up that easily - your body may react if you stop and you may find that you surrender to it too easily. drinking habits aren't that easy to brush off - but in your case it could just be a social habit and you might find that you have to mix with a different circle of friends. If you are drinking cans I'm sort of guessing you are drinking these at home. My advice would to try and replace the drink with another hobby don't go back on it if you find out the dull ache is something minor. you might have to change alot of other habits - sometimes even watching a certain program on tv is when you open up a can- as you will see from the information on the web if you carry on drinking you could seriously damage your health, relationships, brain problems, sleep habits, depression. You only got one life don't let it control you.

Ov course!!!! Go to doctors and get this dull ache checked out, probably nothing too serious, but you never know. But just think what you are doing to your liver drinking 10 cans every day, if you stop now you will have withdrawl simptums.
Go get checked out, and consider gradually slowing down on the lager, dont just stop, or you will make yourself worse. Hope this helps you.

The odds are that it's an ulcer, which is treatable and should not be long term.

The liver does repair itself, but there is a limit, remember George Best.

These are the three most important sreps which I eanestly implore you to take:

1. Stop drinking immediately.
2. Go and tell your doctor all about it.
3. Find your nearest AA group, they are a friendly group, they will all have had the same problem as you, you wont be expected to say or do anything you don't want.

They may save your life as well as they did mine and millions of others.

You do realise the damage to your liver eventually becomes irreversible. Stop now while you can. At the moment you can recover, another few lagers and you may not. Sorry to be doom laden but they are the stark facts.

If your going to quit drinking, the permanent damage will probably be minimal, though you may have done some liver damage. You'll find out when you get older.

The liver can repair itself if you stop drinking now,3 cans a week is social able drinking not 10 a day.
