To eat? FREE though init!
I know a bloke who does, but if they are in their packaging they would be fine and not wasted.
Best before is usually still OK if its just a couple of weeks out.
Use by would be more risky but who hasn't risked it before when desperate, tee, hee!

Ha yeah I would! Also foods that have a 'Best Before' date on them never actually spoil, they just taste better before the stated date. Hence the name. Also even spoilage bacteria wouldnt do you any serious harm, it might make you sick or give you an upset stomach but thats it. Its undercooked foods that can make you really ill.

.I think it;s OK to do and if i was hungry enough i would go there in a heartbeat and get some to make a meal with...i always buy things at the grocery store ' that has the expiration date the next day.as long as you use it up fast your alright to eat it.stores always throw out veggies and fruits as they aren;t shiny enough; or it has a cut ' or smashed so i see not a thing wrong with eating it,I wouldn;t jump in to get it out; but i would take it In a box; or on sale' at a store..

This is becoming more popular and the folks who do it call themselves "Freegans". Hey, if you're willing to risk an upset stomache and pinching pennies, why not? More than a third of all food is thrown away - seems a shame, right?
