when you eat and drink it probably is giving your body what it needs to fight off the infections. Make sure you're drinking lots of water and eating proteins as these help fuel your body. Taking a tablespoon of honey with a little salt should help kill the bacteria in your throat. Eating oranges (though it might sting) is also good because the vitamin C helps the immune system. Hope you feel better soon!!!

When you are eating and drinking you are giving your throat more moisture which makes it feel less dry. Lubricating your throat always makes it feel better. You probably have a dry throat because of weather change. Try gargling with salt water (don't drink it). Also get some lozenges to help lubricate your throat until you feel better.

Drink plenty of fluids throughout the day, either hot or cold according to your preference. Avoid acidic and carbonated drinks that might irritate. Suck on lozenges that contain a mild anesthetic and/or sugarless hard candy that stimulate saliva production.

I agree that it may be that the membranes are dry. If you have a humifidier in your home, use it.

A few shots of whiskey to kill the germs. then plenty of honey to sooth it.
Or better still wiskey mixed with honey.

or brandy may be nicer. and golden syrup if you don't care for honey.
