you ain't weird
I'm the same age and I am truly hooked on the stuff.
I got hooked in the classical way. When I was 18 a girl broke my heart and as I was sipping on some good whiskey I got to listen to some John lee hooker. The music felt so right that I got drawn to it. I listen to all kind of blues frome the real old stuff like son house and charlie patton down to real modern day guys like stevie ray vaughn of guy forsyth and many more. Blues talks about feelings that are in each and every one of us. it is valid for all ages and all times.

When I was four years old in the 1950s, my parents HAD to buy me a 45rpm of Fats Wallers' "All That Meat And No Potatos". My mother said that as an infant I didn't cry when I woke up, but would hum bluesy songs in the crib.
I was into Fats Domino, Ray Charles, anything bluesy before I was out of diapers.
So, no, you're never too young for the blues. And since when is being curious called weird? I think you're doing just fine.
And never ever let anyone else tell you what to like. You're inside a rich world of creativity.

HELL NO.
I'm 31. I got into blues when I was 8. It feels a little weird to be "counter-culture" while all your friends are into "pop" music. Hey, I like some pop music too, I just LOVE the blues.
We need more people like you who are willing to love music simply because they feel it. We need less people who follow the herd and eat what the "media" spoon feeds us.
I encourage you to branch out and explore MORE blues music, cause right now you're only scratching the surface. There's some really good live blues going on that needs support.
There's also a lot of watered down crap being sold as blues, but that's another topic for another discussion.
Love what you love, and support live blues. We're rare, but you're not alone.

Im 17 and I love the blues! I think music now a days pretty much all sounds the same. The most original music comes from the 50's-80's. And some 90's.

For what it's worth, that's the kind of stuff I listened to when I was 28 as well. Listen to what moves you or inspires you and don't worry about trends or age. By the way, if you are a musician who wants to play this kind of music you really have to go back to the source in order to understand the blues genre.

I've loved the blues from the time I was a little girl. I didn't know what it was called then -- I just knew that I liked it. BTW, judging from the crowd at the Joe Bonamassa concert, there are avid blues fans even younger than you. Keep enjoying the blues, and you'll meet people who share your interest.
