You are assuming quite a lot. To start with what religion isn't tainted by wars and murder etc. Paganism is another religion. Who are we to say what God stands by?
Are you really expecting someone to tell you why God wants anything? Rhetoric or not, this is not the place for your question.

Organized religion can and is mis-applied often. Christianity has been held up as a banner of righteousness in many wars. This also goes for other manners of faith as well. Having a conversation with "God" or a higher power through prayer or meditation can be a very good thing. This may help you to check the motives of yourself, others, and organizations. It can also help to give you strength if you are going through a hard time. I think if we could all follow the rule - "Do unto others as you would have done unto you", we would all be better for it. I think if you have a good heart and good intentions in all you do - to the best of your ability - that you will find that your inner divinity will be right in line with the Higher-Power, or "God", if that is your view/word.
Just as a history note, Paganism pre-dates Christianity. The Christians, in order to create more followers, added rituals that were familiar to people. If that did not work, well... look up the Spanish Inquisition. Nothing like being threatened with or witnessing being "drawn and quartered" or "burning at the stake" to "put the fear of God" in you. I wonder too - why God would have anything to do with such torture. I seriously doubt it had anything to do with God. It had to do with gaining power and domination.
Signed the Friendly Faithful Heretic...

The first thing to understand about organised religion is that it is a POLITICAL TOOL!
Judaism was founded to unite the Habra Tribes.
Christianity was adopted by the Romans as a unifying tool between Eastern and Western Empires and went on to be the basis of the Holy Roman Empire.
Islam was a development of Judaism and Christianity, aimed at unifying the Semitic Arab Tribes, which did not wish to be subservient to Judaism, or the Holy Roman Empire.
All three moved to incorporate various pagan and polytheistic beliefs, in order to placate folk cultures. Judaism incorporated a wide range of traditions of the Babylonians and Egyptians. Christianity, as we all know, incorporated just about every Pagan festival. Islam based its law on the traditions of the Tribal Legal customs and wrested Mecca and Medina from the control of Pagans, as they also did with the Temple Mount in Jerusalem.
The "religious" wars were, in fact wars of political domination. One of those wars has been going on for at least 4 millenia.......... That of Jews versus Phillistine (Palestinian)........

Since there is no actual "god" it does not really matter but some people need a religion for comfort or reassurance so they are necessary. However they can have such a powerful influence over there followers that people seeking power will use religion to further their aims and that often includes using them to endorse war, murder and many other evil, cruel and nasty acts

Because we're trying, at least some of the religious are. We are trying to become what God wants of us to become charitable (Cornithians 13) and to love as he loves. We stumble and he helps steady us, we fall and he is there with a hand to lift us. While there are many that abuse religion and the powerful effect that it has on people, they will be held responsible for their sins, but it is no excuse for anyone else.

You didn't even begin to address sin. This list is much longer.
He does not enjoy seeing us self-destruct, but is also optimistic I am sure. Despite what you may have heard, Christians are doing SOME good in this world.

All of this is life. What God is mostly unhappy with is the YA Staff. He dispproves of their constant bigotry and judgemental attitudes. None of them will be with Him in Paradise.

All good things attract hangers on. I have never met a Christian who was so because of fear of hell....where DO you live?
