I am looking for a partime job (very partime only about 16 hours a week), I can only work 6pm-10pm about 4 nights a week. I would really love to work somewhere that gives a sweet store discount. I would prefer Not to work in Food, (unless it is natural/organic), and Not to work anywhere that I have to dress up nice, (makeup counter, or fancy dept). Im a work at home mom, and my wardrobe reflects that, so I dont want to defeat the purpose of the job by spending it all on my clothes.

When I worked in retail, I'd have to say I had the most fun working at a sporting goods store. You get to dress in sporty clothes, there's plenty of stuff around to play with and I got a great discount on sneakers.

I worked at Borders Bookstore for the past two years and I really enjoyed myself there. They're very flexible about hours (I go to school fulltime and worked about 15-20 hours a week in 3-6 hour shifts), have a casual dress code, and their discount is the best I've come across in retail - for part time workers it's 33% off of all books and CDs and 20% off of DVDs, and a few times a year they have an Employee Appreciation weekend in which everything in the store (except for large electronics like iPods) is 40% off!

Good luck with your job hunt; hopefully you will find something that suits you well!

Discounts are only worth anything if the store sells things you'd buy anyway, at a reasonable price. So apply at the places where you normally shop. With your restriction on hours, and if you can't or won't work weekends which are usually the busiest shopping times, you might have a tough time finding something - you might have to open up weekends. Forget the "fun place" - they call it work, and pay you for it, for a reason.

Good luck.
