My son’s hair did that at about that age and if it’s all falling out then it will all fall out and come back in the same colour. You can help it along a little by combing whats left or just using your fingers to gently play with his hair until it’s all gone.

When my son was that age I couldn’t wait for all the funny-looking different length hair to all come out and I would (I don’t want to say pull because that sounds so mean) play with his hair and it would just come out in my hand. Should be all gone in about a month. Seems like forever right now but goes way too fast. Don’t forget to take pictures.

The shaving will also take out any new growth (the stuff the you want) and whatever you use on him for shave cream etc would likely be too harsh for his skin and if you accidentally knick him while shaving, head wounds bleed LOTS. If it looks really scraggly, trimming around the ears makes a huge difference,

It won't hurt anything to shave it, and shaving it off is actually quite common in some places. Just be extra careful with his sensitive skin and soft spots.

Also, you need to be aware that just because you shave it all off doesn't mean it will grow back in thicker, healthier, or even all at the same time. When hair falls out, it falls out at the root, but if you cut it, that doesn't take the root out, so that particular peice of hair still continues to grow. The new hair (which may be a different color or texture than his baby hair) could begin to grow in the places where the old hair fell out, and he could still have thin patches where you cut it, but the roots didn't fall out until later.

Shaving a baby's head is usually done in hot areas, to help them stay cool. Or if there is a head injury, they may shave the area around it, and then the parents shave the rest later, so the haircut is even.

There's no rule against shaving your son's hair, but it might no work just like you plan.

Bad bad idea.

First of all, the hair is not going come back in at the same time no matter what you do. My daughter had the oddest hair growth from the time she was 1 until about the age of 4. I just did the best I could to shape it and make it look neat. She's now 15, and has the most beautiful, glossy hair on the planet. Leave it alone and let it come in as it will.

Yeah, it's perfectly fine to shave your baby's head at this age, just be careful when going over the center of his head, where the soft spot is. Make sure not to put much pressure on it.

Baby hair does usually fall out around that age and when it grows back, it can be thicker.

My sis shaved her son's head around 6mos. She gave him a mohawk! It didn't harm his skin. She made sure to put the guard on the razor.

It's very common in Hispanic culture to shave the baby's head soon after birth. A couple of my friends have great pics of their first haircut! It was super cute. They are both girls and had their hair shaved as babies.

I think it would be just fine to shave a baby's head. Actually many cultures shave a baby as soon as they're born. My mother in law(Mexican) tried to shave my baby but I refused just because I had a girl born with beautiful thick hair. If she were a boy I might have allowed it.

i dont accept as true with calling you loopy for asking our oppinion. i does no longer shave her hair. my daughter is 15 and has an entire head of thick black hair and that i in no way shaved it while she replaced right into a toddler. i did save it trimmed up so as that it replaced into "healthful" yet different than that i only washed it and used conditioner and positioned it up in amazing ties. only be careful of the "previous better halves memories" which you pay attention to three are nicely previous the cases. her hair would be only wonderful. and he or she would be in a position to be suitable

Okay, that's just ridiculous to shave a 5 month olds hair. You need to wait. He has a very sensitive little head, and you could hurt is head and skin. I wouldn't do that at all.

I wouldn't, baby's skin is so fair and soft you'd risk accidentally causing a little cut here or there. It will fall out naturally and will grow back evenly. My two boys have nice heads of hair now. =D

Seriously? Think about how tender and fair their skin is. Do you really want to risk cutting his little head just because you're worried his hair won't grow back evenly?
