You should read "The Blood Pressure Solution" (also available in electronic format, watch the video presentation here: http://www.fixbloodpressure.com ) It's a very comprehensive step-by-step book that walks you through the natural remedies of high blood pressure. It provides you with a lot of information on what foods to eat, how you can acquire and prepare these foods, how you can change your lifestyle for the better, how to eliminate the toxins from your body, how to reduce stress, how you can check your blood pressure level the correct way etc.

The book is amazing in that it not only lowers your blood pressure without the help of medications; it also aids you in having a life that is healthy, happier, and less stressful. This book chanced my life.

The control and management of hypertension is a 3-step process. Step 1 is changes in diet, weight loss, including or increasing exercise and activity, making changes in lifestyle and stress management. If you've already changed diet, control your weight and exercise, have you also made lifestyle changes (no smoking, limiting alcohol) and managed or reduced stress in your life? Step 2 is introducing an antihypertension medication while continuing Step1. Step 3 is introducing a second or even third antihypertension med while continuing Steps 1 & 2.

Finish Step 1 and speak to your doctor about advancing to Step 2.

There are basically three kinds of hypertension. One is malignant hypertension, another is primary or essential hypertension and the third is secondary hypertension. Malignant hypertension is chronically very high and is very dangerous (over 200/140), primary hypertension has no apparent cause and secondary hypertension is caused by another existing condition. It might be obesity, heredity, smoking or having diabetes, for example, but it's a byproduct of something else. Your hypertension might be primary but your doctor can determine that.

Your diet and exercise habits may be good, but what about your stress level? This is something that you have to consciously work at through meditation and relaxation techniques. You can eat well and exercise all you want, but if you're stressed and/or have unresolved unemotional issues, stress that should not be there will always be there.

Meditation has helped me tremendously and is really something worth looking into, in my opinion.

Good luck to you!

You should eat as little red meat as possible especially if you have high blood pressure, as they both contribute to heart disease. Bananas are full of potassium so will lower blood pressure.

I have the same problem, I was diagnosed at 24. They ran all kinds of tests and said it is just genetic. Make sure to regulate it or else you will get headaches and put yourself at risk for a heart attack. You can buy your own monitor to check it but most likely you will need a prescription.

Mine too. For some of us, it's genetic and exercise and diet help, but will not completely control it.
I take an ACE inhibitor (low dose) for mine and it works well.
