Seek professional help.
There is obviously an underlying cause of why you feel you have to cut yourself.
Some people cut themselves to feel something, even pain.
Some people cut themselves in a psuedo-masochistic manner (punishing themselves for their own depression).
As i said, seek professional help, consult your doctor and they will refer you to places you can go and talk in confidence.

Whenever I have a problem I dont know how to manage and it seems like no one understands I turn to books to get the answers I need. I just used the search engine on amazon.com and typed in self harm. Here are some of the books that came up:
Bodily Harm: The Breakthrough Healing Program For Self Injurers by Karen Conterio
See My Pain! Creative Strategies And Activities For Helping Young People Who Self Injure by Susan Bowman
Secret Scars: One Womans Story Of Overcoming Self Harm by Abigail Robson
Cutting: Understanding And Overcoming Self Mutilation by Steven Levenkron
Stranger In My Skin by Alysa Phillips
If you go to amazon.com you can even look inside some of these books to get an idea if they will be helpful or not.
Best wishes.

I want you to live!!!
Nobody should hate you.
Nobody probably does hate you. It's just how you are feeling right now.
Nobody can help you, unless you are willing to receive help.
We honestly do not want to see you die! You say your friends and parents won't understand. Why? Are they all from Mars or something? So you feel different? So what?? You are loved. Not only by family, but by strangers and by God. Hard to believe, yes?
TO ANSWER YOUR QUESTION ABOUT HOW TO STOP CUTTING, .... You are listening, but are you hearing us? Talk to us through e-mails. Get different opinions. Are you looking for answers? Or just pity? --- If you are looking for answers, you're in the right place.
You are worthy to God. Hear what everybody (nice!!) is telling you!!
Until I became a parent, I could not understand that growing older does not always make you this foreign person born in the 18th century who insists life should be this way or that way. My parents are certainly not perfect. But I do know they love me. --- You say they won't understand. But are you sure??

Hey-
Dont think for a minute you are alone.I aswell had a problem not cutting but basically taring my skin off at every scab I saw or creating another one until I infected my skin.People probably do think we are crazy.Who cares! They have not walked in our shoes.
You like me have probably been threw way more in life than you needed to go threw. It is not your fault.I have too.I want to die alot of times and take it to the other level and that is a scary level to be at.Just 3 weeks ago I was in an ambulance rushing to the ER where I had my stomach pumped and my husband was not even going to come see me.On top of that they really did not know what they were doing to pump my stomach and it took 30 minutes longer than it was suppose to.
Sad thing is the guy they picked up before me was dead.It was over his job.See threw all this and find yourself.Go get help see a mental health doc.I am going today and my nerves are so bad I will be having panic attacks getting there, but I got to go and no one cares to take me.It is like walking on water.Give yourself hope to get threw this. You can do it.If I can you can!
Good luck and take care, you are not alone...

Cutting is a form of self harming it is NOT a from of attension seeking, it is a way of coping. Your parents may not understand at first but they would want to support you. You could get councellorsing or join a sort group like RYL which i have found helps. www.recoveryourlife.com. It isn't going to be easy and you will have a few minor hiccups but thats just life. Good luck. Mail me if you ever wanna talk. Good luckx

Bless you - the fact that you have admitted that you are doing this to yourself is a great start, so many people hide it.
You really need help in working through your problems as many people self harm as its the only thing in their life that they have control over. Something else is obviously triggering this and unless you get help resolving that, you are going to stay in this viscious cycle.
And if anyone on here gives you hate mail, then they are just nasty little oiks that have nasty opinions.
Please, try to see the bigger picture, even if you think life is not worth living at the moment, it can be again.
Major hugs to you - and having lost my brother to alcohol poisoning - I understand more than you think. I am more than happy to chat if you ever need to xx

hey i know exactly what you mean, i'm the same. and i know that people who don't self harm can find it really hard to understand why we do it etc, which can make it harder for us.
you could do with finding an alternative to cutting, to try and wean yourself off of it before stopping - stopping outright is very unlikely to work. you could snap an elastic band against your wrist (really hurts but doesn't harm), draw/paint on yourself with red pen or fake blood from a joke shop, put some music on really loud and dance/mosh/headbang to it, punch/kick/bite a pillow....
there are loads of alternatives, feel free to email me for more, or email me if you wanna talk to another suicidal self harmer, coz having someone to talk to can really make you feel better. even better than that would be to speak to a professional - my parents took me to the docs recently, and despite the fact i cried the whole time, just the odd few words that i managed to speak to the doc made me feel better. i'm still not sure if i really want help, i often think 'i don't want help, i just want to die', but i feel better knowing that there is help for me, and someone i can talk to. you've admitted you want help, so start by talking to your friends, then take that step to get professional help, so you can get on the road to recovery, and hopefully be happy again.
as i said, i'm here for you if you wanna talk.
good luck hun.
stay strong, stay safe.

Cutting is such a rush, it's a hard thing to stop. I tend to cut in places where people can't see. Well I started a dance class and have to wear shorts and I dont' want everyone seeing my scars, so that's the only thing that stops me from doing it. Find something that you love more than that ( I know it's hard ). From keeping myself from cutting, I have to distance myself from knives/razor blades when I'm upset and have to make sure that I keep my mind right and think about how no one would find these scars attractive. Mainly try anything and everything.
I really hope something works out because I know how hard this is, I still struggle with it from day to day.

There must be something in your life that pleases you if not just a little bit?
Hold onto those things and try to bring them into your life more often.
Cut out all the parts of your life that make you miserable (friends, partner, work etc) and start again.
What is it exactly that makes you feel this way?

Sorry to hear you are feeling this bad hun!
Have you spoken to your friends about it?...You could find someone else you trust...a teacher(if your at school) or even your GP...
I understand about not wanting to tell your parents...it took me yrs to tell mine! However once its out in the open it can make things alot easier!
Do you know why you cut yourself?...you need to work out why and then you will be able to work on what you can do to replace it...
Feel free to email me if you would like to talk...
Take care and stay strong!
Things will get better
Xox...

at least you have friends. i don't.
i know how you feel, though it might not be for the same reasons. i cut myself too and i can't stop. it's the only thing that brings me relief.
tell ur school counselor (or if ur not in school consult a therapist/counselor elsewhere) he/she can refer you to a psychiatrist who can put you on antidepressants or determine wheter or not you have a mental disorder that makes you hurt yourself.
these are just some things my therapist told me to do when i want to cut myself:
1. put ice in a bowl and put ur hands in it
2. write about it
3. snap a rubber band on ur wrist
for more ideas google "cutting alternatives". you might find an alternative that u like
good luck
