The C.O.Y. was getting that way also. Unless you had a good view of the front of back, you didn't know who the manufacturer was.

I still think the C.O.T. is designed to bring in European manufacturers, although I haven't seen anything from NASCAR to support my theory. Still, the irony is these cars are bulky in design and top heavy, just like many european cars.

BMW, AUDI, and Mercedes Benz competing in NASCAR?

Hey, is it really that far-fetched to think that this could be the direction NASCAR is going? A few yrs ago, no one could have imagined Toyotas running with Fords, Dodges and Chevys.

Well the consensus of things that I see here and on other message boards is that people wish the race cars in NASCAR were more stock, at least in appearance. But then everyone complains about the COT. The COT looks more like the street versions of the cars that they are badged then the previous design. If you've ever seen a race-ready version of a COY, you would noticed how contorted they really are. Set them next to a street car and its very hard to see the similarities.

With the COT, however, you can actually envision the street version (save the front splitter of course). When I went to Darlington in May, NASCAR had a display tent that had all four makes of the COT, with the street version sitting alongside. I was actually amazed at how much closer to the normal street version a COT actually is. All they need to do is figure out how to setup these cars to make them corner better and the racing will improve. I think a big part of that will happen with Goodyear's new softer compounds.

I don't think NASCAR was that stock anyways. Or at least not the way they use to be. When Pontiac was in you could really tell from the front but all the manufactures were all kinda looking the same to me. I'm not a big fan of the COT car. I'm glad its safer but the racing has been a lot of single file stuff and I wish they could pass easier.

i don't really like the COT's i know it's designed for safety reasons, but the thing goes slower then the old car, it's also hard for many drivers to pass with.
