If you have an ipod bring that. That is how I survived a four day car ride with my family. You should also bring:
Cell Phone
Sandwiches
Crackers
A cooler
WATER BOTTLES
fruit
3 shirts
1 thanksgiving outfit
1 sweatshirt
1 jacket
1 pair of flats or flip-flops
1 pair of sneakers
toothbrush
toothpaste
face wash
razor
shampoo
conditionar
make up
perfume
any Thanksgiving items you may need
If you are NOT the driver:
magazines
a book if you do not get carsick
laptop if you have one
coloring books are always fun.
of course Crayons or colored pencils

Even if it is a short trip you can save your own life by packing a large bottle of water that is only opened in case of emergency …. And a long sleeve shirt to save from both sun exposure and the cold night air… a few granola bars would not be a bad idea either… YOU WANT THESE THINGS in case you brake down in the middle of nowhere

def on the snacks, couple of cd's or ipod, if there are children involved play little word games with them, lots of crayons. if just you a flashlight with new batteries, spare tire, cell phone and charger, a blanket in the trunk just in case you break down a atlas or map, a cooler for your snaks and drinks they make the 6 pack things, a roll of tissue just in case, kleenex, check all your tires and oil, laptop if you have one while you are taking a break and leave early as possible to beat traffic if you are traveling on a weekday. Chex mix is a good snack, happy travelling

since your neccesities are going to be where your going : towels,. toothbrush, deoderant, etc, I'd just bring a few changes of clothes including something nice for anything formal that comes up and some food for the trip. a map also. google the website.
good road snacks:

Anything casual and outdoorsy. No formal wear. Good shoes for walking. Snacks for the drive, but eat the local fare once you get there.
