The town of Walkersville, MD is presently attempting to prevent an Islamic sect from building a Muslim mosque and convention complex on 224 acres of farmland in a small farming community .

Supposedly twenty families would use this center all year long and a week long convention each summer would draw approximately 5000 worshippers from across the US. The area is not equipped to handle a large crowd. The town is opposed to the sale of the land for this use because the resources; water, police, traffic is unable to support a convention center of any type.

The underlying opposition is a fear of Islam, terrorism and the erosion Christian community values.

Do you think that the Ahmadiyya are a threat to the American way of life?

Hmmm. Welcome a culture or group that denies the basic American principles and freedoms? You might not be able to stop them, but I wouldn't embrace them with open arms.

Don't trust them. Keep an eye on them and report any suspicious behavior to local police. They probably think they can get away with terrorist activities when they are out in the country. Stay alert and don't lt them get away with anything. Don't let their children impose their culture on your school. Make them conform to the same standards as other children. No veils, no unsafe long droopy dresses..

We have a similar center in our town, but we stayed vigilant and kept them from doing anything bad. We also try and get their women to see that they have rights in the US. That drove out the most radical of them. The last thing they want is for their women to start demanding rights.

The place is going nowhere and they are losing any active participants. They won't last long.

Ignorance is the only threat to our lives. My youngest goes to a school that is mostly arabic/muslim. Let me tell you something...we're all the same down deep. Love, family, freinds, education....its all the same. Look dear heart....some days my little girl wants to wear a scarf like her classmates-no big deal! When she gets older...I am going to cover her from head to toe in a black robe. Why?? Modesty and put her mind on her education and NOT BOYS.
By the way, I'm wiccan. My best to you and enjoy your new neighbors.

I think any group that wants to impose its relgious values on others and wants religion to be a part of government and public life -- Muslim, Christian or otherwise -- is a threat to the American way of life.

How are the Ahmadiyya different from fundamentalist Christian groups?

If they would allow you to build your worship house in their town, then I would allow them.
