The Art of War

A soldier wearily reconnoiters,
Unscopeable defilade blankets him,
A sightline opening unencumbered,
Paratroopers envelop egress outs,
Fire away projectile unstoppable,
Insurgency targeted, faceless foe,
A bullets momentum indiscreetly,
Disemboweling rapidly, swiftly dead,
The escape quietly organizes,
Military discipline orders it.

Hot

The desert calls to no man
Dunes replete with bleached white bones
Endless waves of sand, one color, one sound
Anonymous, nameless expanse
Scorched and blistered rock faces
Seared rage sweltering, holding fire
Motionless specter, sighting
Opportunity, egress clear
JAR triggered,
Directed,
Away…silently

I can't find "The Dance with Death." I'll look for it at lunch.

The first one was in response to a DFA poetry challenge. Note the syllable count per line, it’s a helix.

I'm actually not feeling well...so my "thinking is blurred". However, your poem needs no brains to be appreciated. I could just simply give them a read and...Voila! Your artistic cadence and cogency are strikingly undeniable! I always enjoyed reading everything that you write--->even when i'm mentally disturbed!!! haha ;-)

Great job - a little word heavy in the first one, but I guess that was your intention. I like "Hot," it's a great description of the desert. Keep up the great work.

You have a God given talent fueled by your soul which yearns to be set free to write as you wish and express yourself fully.

Oh yeah, the poems. They were OK.
