It seems like it.
'2000 people die in horrible avalanche' - ooh, that naughty Satan!
'One person survives horrible avalanche' - praise the Lord for his mercy!
What do these people do with their lives...?

The devil is real. He appeared as an angel in the garden. The word for serpent can also be angel and it makes more sense. The name Satan appears in other passages as well.
1 Chronicles 21:1, Job 1:6-2:7, Zechariah 3:1-2, Matthew 4:10, Matthew 12:26, Matthew 16:23, Mark 1:13, Mark 3:23-26, Mark 4:15, Mark 8:33, Luke 10:18, Luke 11:18, Luke 13:16, Luke 22:3, Luke 22:31, John 13:27, Acts 5:3, Acts 26:18, Romans 16:20, 1 Corinthians 5:5, 1 Corinthians 7:5, 2 Corinthians 2:11, 2 Corinthians 11:14, 2 Corinthians 12:7, 1 Thessalonians 2:18, 2 Thessalonians 2:9, 1 Timothy 1:20, 1 Timothy 5:15, Revelation 2:9-13, Revelation 3:9, Revelation 12:3-9, Revelation 20:1-7.
Those are just passages where Satan is used by name. That does not include references to devil, evil one, or enemy. It also does not include many old testament prophecies about him as well. As you can tell, Satan is very much a real figure.

Satan is real. As for the fact that Christians believe in Satan just for someone to blame all the bad things on: that statement is false. I believe, as well as many other Christians I have dealt with, if anyone is to blame for bad things it is mankind. We are the ones who are born into this world with wicked and sinful hearts. I, for one, do not blame all my bad decisions on the fact that Satan exists, but I do believe that he is the one who puts the bad decision there. In turn, though, I know that God had ALWAYS provided me a way out of every bad situation I put myself in. (1 Corin 10:13)
Satan exists in this world so that mankind may have a choice of masters. A choice between eternal life through Jesus Christ, our Savior, or an eternal hell, through Satan.

I have found the Bible to be reliable/true.It speaks of satan who iswritten of as a real being, a fallen-angel. he was the most beautiful and gifted of all the angels. However, he wanted to be worshipped as a god. he led a rebellion against God that involved 1/3 of all the angelic host. God defeated these rebel lious angels and cast them out of heaven. The devil is hideously evil and full of hate, he takes pleasure in anything that might displease or grieve God. The only reason he bothers with mankind is because God loves us. The best way to hurt someone is to go after their children. God is our heavenly Father; we Christians are his children. In his efforts to hate on God, satan attacks all mankind and Christians in parrticular.
Another reason I know he is real is that my relatives worshipped him and in his name did things of horrific evil, torture, sexual abuse and brainwashing to me and to other small children. There is nothing like personal experience to convince a person someone exists.
WHEN I DO SOMETHING WRONG IT IS ALL ONE ME satan has NO power to make me do anything. However, he does try to instigate evil behavior by the power of suggestion and temptation.
If it were not for Jesus Christ, I would have turned out to be as evil as my relatives or I would have died at age 18 as I planned. I met Jesus at the lowest point of my despair and I owe my life, sanity and healing all to His love, compassion and miraculous healing. I worship Him with all my being; Jesus is my everything, my life, my love, my leader, my healer, my dearest friend, my counselor.....you get the point I'm sure.
If/when life beats you down to the ground, call on Jesus for help. He will never turn you away. If you were in a burning house satan would pour gasoline on the blaze, if he could. Save your curiosity for Jesus, He's worth investigating.
For an intellectually honest book about Christianity you might read New Evidence that Demands a Verdict, by Josh McDowell. Thank you for your question.

Christy---satan (little "s") is real. a fallen angel. led 1/3 of all the angels in a revolt. (Now that was a revolting situation.) And as a result he started roaming around trying to find people who were susceptible to his charms and wiles. Do I believe we can blame all our problems on satan---no! We make poor choices and we eventually pay for the choices we make. Kinda makes me think of a person who eats too much, develops heart disease and dies. Wow---on his tombstone he wouldn't think of saying THE DEVIL MADE ME DO IT! Personally I would like to see some honesty in our society----Taking personal responsibility for our actions. But no one blames themselves anymore. :-)

The fable that is Satan aka Lucifer would make a terrific movie if directed by the likes of Steven Speilberg.
Sarcasm aside, I propose that we are all responsible for our own actions, good, bad, or indifferent. I don't blame a supernatural being for my bad behavior, nor do I give credit to any supernatural being for anything good that I do.

You called?
Oh, perhaps I should explain.
Satan got drunk and I bet him he couldn't get drunker.
I bet my soul.
He bet his entire undead army and the caverns of hell.
I'm not into the whole reaping thing, so I got Bob the Builder to harvest souls.
I just put the souls in my attic. Hell is too good a party place to stuff it with torture.
Although, that is my theme.
Satan d***it Bob, you just harvest the souls. You don't burst into song after you wreak havoc upon their existence.
Despite what Bob thinks, this is not a musical.

Satan is very real.
Satan has many names and plays numerous roles.
Satan's main spheres of activity is (PEER) Politics, Economy, Education, and Religion.
Satan gains more ground in PEER, not crime and immorality as some think.
It is time to wake up spiritually, or be deceived.
Joh 14:30 Hereafter I will not talk much with you: for the prince of this world cometh, and hath nothing in me.
2Co 4:3 But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost:
2Co 4:4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.
Eph 2:2 Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:
