I am a nurse working in the oncology field and I never knew it was this bad. I was so angry when the man had to choose a finger and when that lady got dropped off by that cab. What can I do ,I vote and where can I get more information. I'm so angry this is supposed to be the greatest country in the world.
I was angry with Hilary and her changed tune too.

Write to your congressman/woman and demand national health care system, one to the White House also, although I doubt very much that will help.

And followup once in a while to ask for their progress in the situation. Only the squeaky wheel gets the oil, you know.

If they get flooded, literally flooded with mail, they will catch on that we the voter are DEMANDING action, not ASKING for it.

Why don't you consider that the movie "Sicko" is pulp fiction. It was designed to move you to the point of anger. It's propaganda. Here is how I qualify that statement.

I am an advertising/pr exec. and work with the media, and film editors on a daily basis.
The power of editing is phenomenal. I can take a set of film strips or still images, and make a compelling case for any point of view on any issue.

Why not travel a little. Go to an ER in London or Quebec and see just how long you have to wait for care. See things FIRST hand before you make such conclusions.

Even if you don't travel to find out for yourself. It would be intellectually dishonest to discount the greater numbers of people traveling to this country to get medical care that those that try to leave to get health care outside the U.S.

The Conservatives are trained to dismiss anything Michael Moore says as "lies" (and they are sometimes correct), so citing MM as evidence is not going to win many arguments.

Conservative pundits lie all the time and get away with it. If there's one thing we've collectively learned in the past 10 years, lies are only wrong when Democrats and their backers do it. Republicans and Conservatives are Patriots when they lie, because they are oppressed by those evil Liberals like Hillary; Cons only have big business and government on their side. They have the media, too, although they like to pretend they don't.

Basically, the Cons have decreed it so that any change to the status quo now is called "socialism," so that way their beloved corporations don't lose any money, and that's all that's important to them.

Don't expect Hillary to change a dang thing; even if she wanted to, the Cons still have enough muscle to stop her (remember, GOP backers are the ones who build the electronic voting machines). She's been in Corporate America's pocket from day one; if there's one thing she's learned from her last health care efforts is: "don't rock the boat."

The Cons are having fun scaring themselves with the "Red Hillary" mythos; they'll use her to re-rally thier supporters (that's the only reason the'd let her get in). Other than that, she'll be pretty useless.

The only time we'll see any change is once things really hit rock-bottom, and as bad as things may seem, we ain't there yet. Wait another decade for the GOP to sell us out to China even more than they have and we can't afford a quick-fix; only then will we see momentum for change.

Nationalized healthcare isn't the solution here.

Let your emotions calm down (films like that one are meant to play on emotions, not facts and thinking).

You say "I am a nurse working in the oncology field and I never knew it was this bad" - You're right, you actually work in the field, Micheal Moore (who made the film) does NOT work in the field. You see reality every day, the film is about 80
% fiction. Believe what you see - that it's not as bad as it looks in the film.

If the government runs the healthcare system, it will be like in England, where you have to wait 4 weeks to see the doctor when you have a broken leg.

What you can do for change is to do some research. In the 1950's, almost no one had health insurance. You paid for healthcare the same way you pay for groceries. You went, got treated, paid for what you got, and left.

Healthcare was VERY cheap back then.

The reason healthcare is so expensive now is because of all the frivolous lawsuits for malpractice, and the un-necessary tests they have to do, because they will get sued for mis-diagnosis.

You can help by writing your elected officials and urging them to approve "tort reform", which limits how much money the greedy lawyers can siphon off the system.

Please, please, please think about what nationalized health care (run by the government) would be like. Healthcare brought to you by the same group that now runs the Bureau of Motor Vehicles and the Post Office ? No thanks.

By the way, thank you - you nurses work your rear ends off and I think you are all under-appreciated!!!

First of all, the two above me citing that Sicko is a lie aren't interested in facts: Moores figures were correctly cited and whatever factual inaccuracies the two people above me seem to think invalidate the film have been debunked -- Fox News is not Fair and Balanced, and Wolf Blitzer's segment on Sicko "revealed" inaccuracies that were erroneous and unfounded.

Vote for Ron Paul -- He wants to get rid of bureacractic entities that gobble up the national revenue.

Hillary Clinton is evil, she wants to take money from everyone in America and provide health care for illegals, I sure hope she don't get into office. When you take on something as big as insurance companies and so on, you take on corporate America itself which is very difficult.
