I am learning about comparatives and superlatives in spanish...but having trouble with a couple problems. You help? yes? thank you!

for example,

(as much as) No esudio _______ tu.

the answer in the blank is "tanto como"

another example:

(than) Ernesto mira m'as television _____ Alberto.

the answer in the blank is "que"

Use the english word in () to help determine spanish word.

Now real problems!

1. (as) Mis amigos paracen _____ simp'aticos como Uds.
("como" is not the word in the blank, this one is especially hard for me!)

2. (the most intelligent) Marisa es ______ de todas.

then in these next problems, you must complete the scentences...

1. Vicente es _____ m'as alto de todos.

2. Luis es menos alto ____ Vicente.

3. Petra es _____ m'as atletica _____ Blanca.

thank you if you help!

JJ already gave you your answers but here a couple of tricks so you don't have problems anymore:

In the case of comparatives you think what you are comparing, therefore check the context of the sentence
when something is more than something in spanish you say:
Ana es más bonita que María (Ana is prettier than maria)
Ana es mucho más bonita que María (Ana is much prettier than María)

notice here that it basically the same sentence structure...the er works as the more, than as que so it's basically simple (actually you didn't seem to have trouble so far)

the next degree is when somehting is THE SAME level as another thing

Maria es tan bonita como Ana (Maria is as pretty as Ana)
La miel es tan dulce como el azucar (Honey is as sweet as sugar)
Mi carro es tan rapido como el tuyo (My car is as fast as yours)

the tan ___ como works for us as te as ___as (having as two meanings this time)

and the last degree for comparatives is inferiority,in this case:

Mi carro es menos rápido que el tuyo OR
Mi carro no es tan rapido como el tuyo

in this case both saying less than (as with the more than in the superiority case) and the 'not as ___ as ____' negating the comparative, make inferiority. something funny is than when you want to make a dispectful comparison you can say the same with a "bad" adjective xD
for example: it's not the same to say mi carro no es tan rápido como el tuyo, as saying mi carro no es tan lento como el tuyo.

in the 2nd case you're "insulting" the other person's car ^^U.

Last but not least, we have superlatives.
when you want to say something is above everything in english you just add EST or say is THE MOST... in spanish es mucho más simple que eso.

you just add: El(La) más/ El(La) menos at the sentence.

in your excersice you had: Vincente es el más alto de todos
it could have also been Vincente es el menos alto de todos
meaning either he is THE TALLEST or THE LEAST TALL of them... lets try a large adjective in english so you can see the difference clearly: Mi computadora es la más cara (you don't all ways have to say of all... it's understandable once you say "es el más/la más/el menos/ la menos") or Mi computadora es la menos cara.
My pc is the most expensive one (when translating and you don't say of all, or of the kids or of an x group of things, you say one/ones, so the sentence doesn't look empty in english, but it's the same)
My pc is the least expensive one.

that's basically it, any confusions lemme know and i'll always help ^^
